Analytical job sio kazi ya mjengo. When I'm doing microbiological analysis I'll only need a maximum of 4hrs in a day. These 4 hrs I'll divide into four,

The first 30 minutes is environmental control of the analysis room. Environmental control is done to ensure there's no contaminants in the room which can tamper with the analysis, I do it daily in the morning. The control is done by fumigations and wait for 1h 30min for the fumigants to take effect. In these one hour thirty minutes unataka nilale ama?🤣😂😂.

The second section is sample and media preparation, this one is just to remove the stored sample from the refrigerator and let it to warm up to a room temperature here my attention is only needed for maximum of ten minutes. Waiting for the samples to warm is 2 hrs, ebu niambie hizo 2hrs unataka nifanye nini?😂

After the samples have warmed up the next step is media preparation. This is the bulk part of analysis because you have to weigh the media powder and make the liquid media from it. This one alone takes around 1h 45 mins.

The third section is media and test tubes sterilization. Sterilization will only need 10 minutes of my time, that's setting autoclave, starting it and stopping it. Autoclaving takes around one hour to be complete. If I may ask, hiyo one hour unataka nifanye nini?😂😂

The final part is plating and incubation. I do pour plating so it doesn't take much of my time (1 hr). Incubation takes around 2 -5 days depending on the type of bacteria or virus you are dealing with. Vibro Cholerae, Escherichia coli, Listeria spp, Staphylococcus aureus and other gram negative bacteria take two days to grow. Salmonella takes 5-7 days.
