Rabat - Zakaria El Goumiri, Morocco’s newly appointed ambassador to Tanzania, presented on Friday his credentials to Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of Tanzania and to Liberata MulaMula, Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.

El Goumiri and Hassan discussed the current state of the bilateral relations between the two countries, during talks on the sidelines of the official ceremony. Discussions also revolved around how the bilateral relations can be improved and evolved in alignment with the goals of the two African countries.

The two welcomed the changes that happened to the relations and the way they have evolved since King Mohamed VI’s visit to Tanzania in 2016, and agreed to put in place a concrete plan to follow up on the progress made since then.

The plan would establish a roadmap and a timetable for implementing the various agreements signed during the Moroccan monarch’s 2016 visit.

Over 20 agreements were signed in 2016 and covered various areas of interest such as tourism, agriculture, aviation, and energy cooperation.

El Goumiri and Hassan also discussed more areas of interest that can see a mutual benefit from the cooperation between the two countries. Some of these included security, renewable energy, women’s empowerment, and entrepreneurship.
