Mombasa port handled 34 million metric tones of cargo in 2019. That's almost double your current (2021) figure.

Sometimes it's important to do a little bit of homework before ranting, it will just expose your ignorance. Do you have any idea that more than 2/3 of all cargo that pass through the port of Mombasa is destined for the local Kenyan market?

As of 2019, Uganda remained Mombasa's ports biggest client, with more than 4 million tonnes imported through that port that year. The point is, Mombasa port can still remain afloat and functional even if all the neighboring countries stopped using it because most cargo that pass through it end up in Kenyan market. Hapo ndio sasa utajua umuhimu wa ''uchumi wa kwenye makaratasi'' We have a bigger purchasing power, a bigger industrial requirement, a bigger everything that's why our economy consumes more than a half of all cargos that pass through our main port
