US Election Coverage 2008

US Election Coverage 2008

The US economy is falling rapidly so I say let Obama win. He will be the president over one of the worst economic periods in American history. Even though the president himself has very little effect on the economy, Obama will be blamed. There would be a backlash like you wouldn't believe against Obama. He is in waaaaay over his head...LOL. Let's get some popcorn and enjoy the show...hahaha!

Are you counting out Sen. McCain?

Robert Reich, a former Clinton cabinet member and longtime friend of the former president, has formally endorsed Barack Obama's White House bid, saying Friday that "my conscience won't let me be silent any longer."

"Although Hillary Clinton has offered solid and sensible policy proposals, Obama's strike me as even more so," Reich wrote on his blog. He served as the Secretary of Labor from 1993-1997 and is currently a professor at UC Berkeley.

"His plans for reforming Social Security and health care have a better chance of succeeding," Reich continued. "His approaches to the housing crisis and the failures of our financial markets are sounder than hers. His ideas for improving our public schools and confronting the problems of poverty and inequality are more coherent and compelling. He has put forward the more enlightened foreign policy and the more thoughtful plan for controlling global warming."

Reich, whose relationship with the Clintons dates back to their law school days at Yale, has long been a critic of the New York senator's White House bid. Shortly before the Iowa caucuses in January, he wrote that voters would have a choice "between someone who talks the talk, and somebody who's walked the walk."

These endorsements are so played out now to the point where they are meaningless.....why don't they just wait it out and endorse whoever will be the Democratic nominee?

Sasa hivi ni wazi uteuzi ataupata but that will be it. Senator McCain is one formidable candidate and I won't be surprised if he wins 40 plus states.

...mccain akisimama na Obama has a zero chance to become the 44th president, get used to it....kijana nakuja Atl coming may lazima nikutafute unionyeshe highlife ya huko sio story tuu za babu yako mccain zilizochoka, nilikuwa Boston nikasahau kumtafuta mshikaji wako Yourname, city is too old and driving is hard lakini was impressed with Atlantic ocean bila kusahau Brazillian chicks!

Wewe njoo tu bwana. Hata kama ungemtafuta mshikaji wangu Yournameismine (whatever the hell his name means) usingempata.

NYANI, this is for you, my friend! maana uliandika Obamamania is wanning! FYI Obamamania can be viewed positive or negative. I see it as a phenomenon that means that Americans are waking up from decades of slumber! They want change and no more old washington politics! Haya cheki hii:
Barack Obama was greeted by the largest crowd of his campaign Friday night in Philadelphia. Some 35,000 people jammed into Independence Park to see the Democratic presidential candidate, four days before this state's crucial April 22 primary.

Frank Friel, director of security at the Independence Visitor Center, made the official estimate.

The crowd exceed the 30,000 who greeted Obama and Oprah Winfrey in December in Columbia, S.C.

Obama told the crowd the United States is at a crucial moment in its history, much like what the founding fathers faced in Philadelphia.

"It was over 200 years ago that a group of patriots gathered in this city to do something that no one in the world believed they could do," Obama said. "After years of a government that didn't listen to them, or speak for them, or represent their hopes and their dreams, a few humble colonists came to Philadelphia to declare their independence from the tyranny of the British throne."

The Illinois senator called Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton a "tenacious" opponent but said it was time to move beyond the politics of the 1990s.

"Her message comes down to this: We can't really change the say-anything, do-anything, special interest-driven game in Washington, so we might as well choose a candidate who really knows how to play it," Obama said.

Food for thought

Good thing for a president to be superstitious?

FROM CNN

Here’s something you may not know about the Republican presumptive nominee John McCain: he’s very superstitious.

The Washington Times reports on some of McCain’s more well-known rituals. For example, he won’t throw a hat on a bed - bad luck. He carries a lucky feather — wonder what that’s for, a lucky compass, and a lucky penny, nickel and quarter. One staffer says he had so many coins at one point “it was like a change purse in his pocket.”

And the senator’s superstitions are rubbing off on some members of his campaign staff. One top adviser says he grew a beard during the 2000 campaign and didn’t shave it until the race was over. He says he’s probably doing the same thing this time around. Another adviser says when someone recently mentioned winning the general election in November, three staffers immediately knocked on wood so not to jinx anything.

If elected, McCain wouldn’t be the first superstitious president. FDR used to invite his secretary along if there would be 13 people at a dinner and he never traveled on the 13th day of the month. And Ronald Reagan carried around a lucky coin and gold charm with him, knocked on wood, and never walked under ladders.

wakuu,

..hata Hillary aliulizwa maswali mabaya sawasawa na Obama. hebu fikiria walipomuuliza kuhusu a private conversation na Bill Richardson? hivi was it fair kwa Bill Richardson kwenda kumchomea Hillary kwa media kuhusu walichoongea in private?

NB:

..habari za watu walio-serve ktk utawala wa Clinton kumuunga mkono Obama zinaashiria suala moja tu, it is over for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Siku Obama atakaposhindwa sijui watafanyaje?

Nomination tayari kaipata. Hilo sibishi tena. Lakini kusema eti aje amshinde John McCain, a war hero, and a white man.....I'll believe it when I see it.

Kwakweli kwangu mimi, sasa nimeelewa maneno ya ma-professor wangu nilipokuwa ninasoma kule US, kwamba Republicans, are more organized na wana nidhamu zaidi kuliko Democrats, I mean how are they going to overcome this mess ya wagombea wao na baadaye kuwashinda Republicans kwenye General elections?

Wamarekani watakuwa wamepungukiwa sana akili kuwapa hawa Democrats power ya urais, kwa sababu kwangu wanaonekana kuwa very un-organized, wewe mgombea liyeshinda Texas, ameishia kupata delegates wachache kuliko aliyeshinda, and now ninasikia kuwa huenda kura za wananchi zisiamue nani awe mgombea bali super delegates, that is insane!

Go makeni!

Just wait and see! For sure Hilary ana kinyongo sana na Barack kuwa hapo alipo, alijua kuwa rangi yake itamfanya aondolewe mapema sana, lakini it turned out to be wrong, as a result ameanza kucheza siasa chafu, so far imeonesha kuwa yeye ndiye hayuko capable kuongoza, ila John na Barack, lakini pamoja na kuwa GOP wako organised wamefanya mess sana, na bado wanaendelea kutetea mess yao, that is a big challenge to John. Akiweza kuwashawishi wamarekani vizuri kuhusu Iraq, na Uchumi anaweza kushinda.
At least sasa wana JF wanakubali kuwa it is all over for HIlary! At last!

Bongolander,

si unajua jinsi wazungu walivyo......especially pale (mweusi) unapokuwa unawashinda............

Obama angekuwa mweupe.......kamama kangekuwa kamesha-achia ngazi siku nyingi sana

Mimi naendelea kusubiri ukamilifu wa analysis wa jamaa aliyeandika hiki kitabu: " why are we excited about Obama and why he can't win?". So far naona kuna kila dalili kwamba Obama atam-prove wrong kwenye primaries.

It is just too complicated to even try to predict anything about anything political in the US! I guess, at least I can dare for this one, it is going to be more complicated for the Democrats after Tuesday if Hillary, the fighter, wins big, and, I think, she will.

It's impossible for the female to become a commander in chief in America.

Bongolander,

si unajua jinsi wazungu walivyo......especially pale (mweusi) unapokuwa unawashinda............

Obama angekuwa mweupe.......kamama kangekuwa kamesha-achia ngazi siku nyingi sana

Hao "wazungu" mnaowasema wasema hapa ndio hao hao wanaomfanya Obama ashinde. Kwani wakoje?
