The functions of diplomatic agents are described in Article 3 of the 1961 Vienna Convention and diplomats are expected to be fully aware of the diplomatic norms and practices under the Convention. One such norm envisages that Ambassadors posted in other countries should refrain from publicly expressing their views on internal politics.

The Vienna Convention, Article 25(1) dictates that the State shall base its international relations on the principle of respect for national sovereignty and equality, non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries...So, it follows that diplomats have no right at all to interfere in our internal politics as par Vienna Convention and also as par laws of the land.

In the picture above it appears the Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Lu Yuoqing, was so overcome with emotion at the reception accorded him that he even donned a CCM cap quite oblivious to the political embarrassment he is creating and repercussions that might follow. Please Mr. Lu Yuoqing, keep your hands off our internal politics.

In Zambia elections of 2012, the Chinese banked heavily on MMD led by Rupiah Banda but the Zambians opted for Sata’s Patriotic Front much to their dismay. One would have thought this was a good lesson to the Chinese but alas it looks like they havent learned anything from history and now Tanzania through CCM is their best bet but is it?

Ambassador Mr. Lu Yuoqing looks happy dancing to the tune of CCM drums but a line has to be drawn that should never be crossed by any foreigner, diplomat or not. For the benefit of our democracy and sovereignty I beseach our political leaders, journalists and other concerned people to warn the foreign diplomats not to poke their noses into our own domestic affairs.

The Peoples Republic of China has to be told that this is not acceptable!

What was done by Mr Ambassador Lu is not only totally unacceptable, but immoral and unethical. My suspicious that CCM machinery has shifted its core mandate as a political party and redefine itself as an Auction Agency have now been evident. So, although there are delays among Tanzanians to decide against CCM and her allies, I suppose it is high time now to make some concrete decisions that will keep CCM away from our political platform.

Vyama vyetu vya upinzani nafikiri wanadhani hii siyo prime concern na hata kama wanafahamu, basi labda wanaogopa kujitokeza officially kulalamika. Huwezi kuwa na viongozi wanaofumbia macho foul za kisiasa zinazofanywa na Barozi za nchi zenye nguvu ambazo pia ni wahisani kwa kuhofia kuwa politically isolated.

Cha kushangaza CHADEMA ina Wizara ya Mambo ya Nje na Ushirikiano wa Afrika ya Mashariki ambapo kwa umuhimu wake ina Mawaziri kivuli wawili ambapo Ezekiah Wenje yuko kama Waziri na Naibu Waziri ni Ibrahim Khamis lakini wote wako kimya unofficially and officially kama vile hawafahamu majukumu yao ya msingi. Where are Ministers in waiting when they are needed most?

Honestly, vyama vya upinzania na hasa CHADEMA wanatakiwa kujipanga kwa mambo makubwa na madogo kama kweli wako very serious na kile wanachokihubiri na hii lazima ianzie kwenye wanachama wao. Siyo kazi rahisi kukabidhiwa nchi kwa utendaji wa aina hii na hasa kulingana na historia ya TANU, ASP na CCM.

Ambassador Lu Yuoqing is more than just an interlocutor, he's an official representative of China state in the United Republic of Tanzania with full diplomatic mandate.

This is contempt to our freedom and democracy, it's an embarrassment to his own country. Shame on him.
