I have to admit that it was incredibly naïve of me to even dream that we were going to get a result tonight. It's fine to lose but at least do so while you've put in a fight. No blame on Moyes tonight. The poor guy did his best. He had a strong line-up with one mistake in it (Cleverley), he recognised the mistake and tried to fix it early (brought in Kagawa at the half). He made more changes earlier than he normally does. The poor guy did all you would want him to do to try to win the game. Unfortunately for him it just seems that the players don't respond to him. You have to wonder had Fergie been in charge and made the same moves in the course of this game, if he would have been able to get some sort of a response? Probably yes.
At Everton Moyes had the trust of those players he got them to respond to him. No wonder he seemed to be able to get them to surprise teams once in a while (case in point United's opening game of the last season) but with United he just doesn't have that psychological hold over the players. Had this been Fergie you would have seen Chicharito put more into the game than he did tonight. But he didn't and it stems from players just not feeling the support from the manager. Under Fergie the players felt he had their back and they were ready to die on the pitch for him in return, the same can be said of Mourinho. Now it's not all Moyes' fault that he does not have that rapport with the players because the players have a role to play in this as well and but at this stage into the season you would have expect the manager to have started gaining some of that respect from his players.
Moyes can get that respect but it would mean getting rid of over half of the team and bring new players that would then be there feeling that they are there because of Moyes and thus owe him performances on the pitch. That is why there is some merit into the argument that Moyes needs more time to get his own players in and then we can see what he is capable of, but that's hard to completely agree with based on the tactical ability he has shown.
There are situations that were just never meant to be and they will just not work. No need to be stubborn and as result put the team in a worse situation just because of sentiment. United needs to cut their loses and find another solution. That is by no means all due to Moyes being a poor manager, just a combination of many things and the big one being that it's just not a good fit from any angle you look at it.
That's my rant about that, now let me go cry myself to sleep!
Kwa hili naona amefanya sawa. Hata SAF alikuwa anafanyaga hivyo. Cleverley yuko kwenye stage ya make it or break it kwenye career yake, and he is suffering from low confidence levels.
