Premier League rule M.4 states: “While he remains with the club a player will retain his shirt number throughout the season for which it was allocated.”

Despite Cavani already wearing No. 7 against Wolves this season, the sale of Daniel James to Leeds United has opened up the possibility for him to change to the No. 21 vacated by James.

Cavani wears No. 21 for Uruguay, so was happy to change his number once James left the club, leaving No. 7 open for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Man Utd have confirmed that any fans who bought a Cavani No. 7 shirt from the club for this season can exchange it free of charge.

The question is: do they want to exchange it for a Cavani No. 21 one or change to Ronaldo No. 7?
