Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera takes positives from derby defeat to Man City
Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera said there were positives to take from the Reds' 2-1 defeat to Manchester City and believes there's a long way to go in the title race.
United were humbled by their bitter rivals in the first-half, with Kevin De Bruyne putting City ahead on the quarter-hour mark with a fine finish before Kelechi Iheanacho scored a tap-in 20 minutes later.
The Reds were given hope just before half-time when City debutant Claudio Bravo flapped at a free-kick to tee up a fantastic volley from Zlatan Ibrahimovic , but United could not find an equaliser.
Herrera helped shore things up when he came on for Jesse Lingard at half-time but felt United's poor start ultimately cost them.
"We didn’t start good," he said.
"Every duel went for them. We have to study why that happened. But we have played well so far. This was not our best game but we created four or five chances to draw the game.
"It is disappointing for us. We are now not happy. We have lost a derby in front of our fans and it is painful."
