Top sides have learned how to beat the Reds

Liverpool’s quality is such they will beat the majority of sides, however a clear blueprint has emerged of how to better the Reds, provided you have good enough players and organisation.

Teams begin by pressurising Liverpool high, disrupting the build up and forcing errors. We are unable to build the game through midfield under organised pressure and hand the ball back to the opposition in advantageous areas.

Once a side has gained a scoring advantage, they then sink into a mid to low block, handing Liverpool the football and inviting them to have the imagination, technical quality and craft to break their compact angles and distances, normally channelling the ball into wide areas.

Liverpool then force passes forward, transfer quickly enough or have the vision to break lines. Expect to see the pattern again.

Doing it the hard way in Europe - but easy win awaits

It just wouldn’t be Liverpool if we didn’t do it the hard way.

Our Champions League last 16 hopes now rest on winning the last group game against Napoli at Anfield.

After an impressive second half performance against Watford, I hoped Liverpool would kick on and start quickly at PSG but no such luck.

A flat start wasn’t helped by some poor tactical decisions from Klopp. Playing all three of Hendo, Milner and Gini was a strange call and they were bypassed far too easily at times. Why none of Keita, Fabinho or Xhaqiri started is beyond me.

Our away form in Europe is a real concern if we manage to progress. The good news is we’ve got the Derby so we can get back on track with an easy win.
