I do not see any reason whatsoever for CHADEMA to apologise to anybody.
The party made the right move and put national interests ahead of political egos and personal grudges. Here's why:
The whole world knows Jakaya Kikwete of CCM stole the election. The walkout staged by CHADEMA MPs when Kikwete was addressing Bunge helped to highlight the fact that the election was rigged and Kikwete was an illegitimate president, morally speaking.
The way forward: The law of the land states explicitly that once the National Electoral Commission (NEC) announces the presidential results, its final (One of the reasons why we need a new constitution). No one can challenge the results in the courts nor sue NEC for fraud, etc. In this situation, while there is clear evidence of vote rigging and grand fraud in the presidential election, Kikwete is the legally declared winner of the presidential election.
CHADEMA has to look at its broader agenda post election, which includes electoral reform and a new constitution. The party needs to sit down with the government and spell out its demands. If the government doesn't listen, then we the people, will support street protests, demonstrations, etc.
In order for CHADEMA to pave way for negotiations with the government, the party had to make the difficult decision of recognising Kikwete as president even though they have evidence to prove he stole the vote. CHADEMA did the right thing by giving dialogue a chance.
The walkout was important to highlight the fact that the presidential election was rigged. Now is the time to sit down at the negotiating table with Kikwete and discuss electoral reforms and a new constitution before 2015.
It was a very difficult decision to make, but it was the right move for CHADEMA to make.
SASA, Kikwete na CCM yake wakileta ubishi, CHADEMA itakuwa na kila haki ya kwenda mtaaani. Wananchi tuko tayari kwa mapambano tunasubiri viongozi wetu watoe tamko.
MUNGU IBARIKI CHADEMA, MUNGU IBARIKI TANZANIA!
