Chadema (CDM) made some strategic mistakes. They let their "emotions" override their better judgement. Chadema was fooled to believing that the support they were receiving from the masses would continue. Sadly they failed to figure that Tanzania is not really a politically emotional country. Once the elections was over not many people were ready to take the protests a step farther. Could it be they did all this thinking that people will be so emotional over the results that they thought Tanzanians would be willing to do anything?
Sadly Chadema has taken one step forward then took three steps back. Surely they must have known that they won't win the elections. These elections should have been used to be their launching pag going forward and preparing the next generation of it's leaders like John Mnyika, Halima Mdee et al.
What is shocking about Chadema is that the election conditions they are complaining of after the elections are the same ones that existed before the elections. They knew NEC was led by presidential appointees. They knew everything. So why act now? It is like entering a match where u know the referee is biased but you chose to play it out any way and complain after the match.
Right now what Chadema is doing is just contradicting themselves. First they said they don't recognize the president. Then they decide to recognize the president but not the elections that got the president into power??? First Chadema MP's boycott the president's speech but at the same night they attend a party hosted by the president to welcome new MPs???
Ukweli ndiyo huo kwamba Chadema had a legitimate shot at transforming their party into a genuine political powerhouse and by this I mean a party that can actually win the elections and just not merely contest for the second position. But now it seems they have been making all the wrong moves. Someone within the ranks of the party needs to step up because Mbowe doesn't seem to be doing his job. Even Dr. Slaa who I saw as the party's "spiritual leader" seems to not know the right way forward.
