Its sad that I have been misunderstood. I raised questions as to the validity of the claim that the plots have been 'sold' as the topic has maintained. Secondary to that, I was reasoning on the likelihood that the plots will be leased by the City in some kind of investment scheme (at least officially) although the economic merits of such an action are scarce at best. This of course raises the alarm for the Higgs Boson effect whose influence we feel as bad decisions taken by those in authority, aka corruption. But since everyone here flies under the banner of corruption, at times because condemnation is apparently the solution (not that I am defending anyone, infact for the record I despise corrupt practices..) but I wanted to consider the issue from another angle.
After all if it is legal for this to happen, a lease and there are mechanisms to ensure the environment is protected, the revenue is substantial, and the ownership of the property remains with the state with no prospect of transfer and that the tendering processes are kept transparent (sio makampuni yakihindi tu yanapata) then it might not be such a terrible thing. But then again, knowing Tanzania, irregularities are common place and it is obvious that from this comes all the condemnation and disgust that we see here.
I reiterate that my motive was to consider the matter in a slightly different angle than that which is customary on this forum. There is no point of a forum if its members cannot even get themselves to consider complex issues with an ounce of objectivity. The minute I try this I am called a traitor, eti sio "mtanzania". As though being emotional is the solution.lol
Anyway, I understand the feelings and to a great extent feel the same myself. I just wish the legal, procedural, environmental and economic angles could be considered so that the issue and potential subsequent impact may be known, regardless of whether it is positive or negative in aggregate. JF needs to learn to have informed opinions, not just emotional outbursts and subjective views.
This would empower the issues discussed in JF so that it could become an authority, a think tank, rather than the current image that it is a meeting place for raving lunatics, skeptical observers, people with agendas and those surveilling the above class. Perhaps I am wrong about the intentions of the founders of this organ, but logic would dictate that it is high time it somehow evolved to solidify its position as a free market for thought and information, rather than the realm of decaying objective thought.
Oh! and, can someone find out whether the plots have been sold please?
Thank you.
