A combination of spectacular performances and shocking decisions saw Chelsea thrash Tottenham 5-1 in the FA Cup semi final to set up a final with Liverpool.

Drogba latched on to a long clearance before spinning away from William Gallas and striking a thunderous half-volley to give Chelsea an unexpected lead.

The goal came on the stroke of half-time following a 45 minutes in which Tottenham had looked the most likely to score.

Controversy struck after the re-start when Juan Mata was awarded a phantom goal after Assou-Ekotto cleared the ball before it crossed the line.

Tottenham's protestations proved futile as the goal stood and Chelsea extended their lead to two.

Redknapp's men though responded to the injustice, with Gareth Bale pulling a goal back shortly after going two behind.

Controversy reared its head again, as questions were raised as to whether Cech should have seen red for a foul on Adebayor in the build up to the goal.

There were worrying scenes for Chelsea fans as David Luiz was stretchered off with an injury.

A delightful pass from Mata allowed Ramires to go 1 on 1 with Cudicini and the Brazillian made no mistakes to give Chelsea some breathing space.

Another spectacular goal saw Chelsea go 4-1 up, as Frank Lampard slammed home his free kick from distance.

Tempers flared towards the end of the match as Scott Parker reacted to a sly kick from John Obi Mikel, with the Nigerian lucky to escape a red card.
