John Mikel Obi had a minor knee operation on a meniscus in the week prior to the Capital One Cup final. He returned to the squad for the game against QPR on 12 April.-

Dominic Solanke

UNDER-21S

Date of birth: 14 September 1997
Place of birth: Reading
Position: Forward
Nationality: English
International levels played at: England Under-16s, Under-17s, Under-18s

-

Dominic Solanke has been with Chelsea since Under-8s and is an attacking player who has always scored many goals through the age groups.

He played wide-left, wide-right and in the ‘number 10’ position, before moving back to his favoured striker role in his U16 year - 2013/14 - scoring 20 goals in the youth team including two in the FA Youth Cup final. His assists record was impressive too and then Under-18s manager Adi Viveash described him as a player who could operate as both a number nine and a number 10 within the same game, praising his intelligence and ability to find space on the field.

The striker represented England at Under-17 level during their successful European Championship campaign in the summer of 2014. He netted five goals in qualification and then, in Malta at the final tournament, while also juggling the demands of GCSE exams, he finished joint-top goalscorer including netting in the victory in the final.

Solanke signed a first-year professional contract with Chelsea in September 2014 and the following month was an unused sub for the first team away at Crystal Palace. He made his debut as a second-half substitute in a home Champions League tie against Maribor on 21 October 2014, becoming the youngest Chelsea player to participate in the competition.

His goalscoring form continued with the younger age groups during the 2014/15 season, with 15 goals scored in just 16 appearances before Christmas. He was the top goalscorer in the group stages of the UEFA Youth League and-netted in five of six FA Youth Cup ties en-route to the final, continuing his great record in the competition.

In the autumn of 2014, Solanke made his international Under-18 debut and scored against the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland for Neil Dewsnip’s side this campaign, bringing his goalscoring tally for club and country to 34 before Easter.

Huyu dogo na Brown waanze kupewa nafasi tosha... Au mnaonaje Mentor Ntuzu na Wakuu wengine.!?

Mourinho's Gamble Against QPR Paid Off for Chelsea

With Matić and Fábregas one caution away from suspension and Chelsea playing relegation-threatened QPR, Mourinho gambled by playing the duo.

huyo ndo mtaalamu wetu Maurinho. he never hesitates to take risks... Wenger asingeweza kufanya kitu kama hiki.

Mourinho's Gamble Against QPR Paid Off for Chelsea - We Ain't Got No History

Gary Neville na Jamie wanatazimia blaza Josee kumchezesha Zouma ktk nafasi ya THE MASK MAN kama pacha wa Matic... Mbele wanategemea Hazard... Fab... Ramirez

Lakini hata MSWAHILI akianza hamkatizi nyie... Ukuta mgumu huu

Didier Drogba knows the qualities champions of England require and he saw plenty of them on display in our narrow win at Loftus Road yesterday.

The striker started for the first time since our success at Villa Park in early February and helped the Blues to three more crucial away points as Queens Park Rangers were seen off very late on.

It was Cesc Fabregas’s 88th-minute goal that did the damage and Drogba, reflecting on a closely-contested west London derby, noted some of the key characteristics that helped us to a fifth straight away league win.

‘This is our spirit,’ he said. ‘We have to believe. We always play until the end. It was a tough game but the good thing with this team is you know that the breakthrough can come from anywhere.

‘There was not a lot to the game offensively. We tried to be ambitious but in front of goal it was hard to make chances.

‘They played with a lot of good aggression. It was like combat. You don’t have that often in the Premier League but there are always games like this one that are very difficult. They are team that is fighting to stay in the Premier League and it is very hard to win there. I am very happy with the way we played.’

Drogba may be asked to lead the line again when we take on in-form Manchester United at Stamford Bridge next Saturday, with that decision likely to be dependent on how Loic Remy recovers from a small muscular injury sustained in training before yesterday’s match. Jose Mourinho expects the French forward to be available for selection.

The Ivorian hitman assessed his own performance in W12 before looking ahead to next weekend’s big clash, the reverse of the fixture in which he scored back in October.

‘I was trying to give my best. I haven’t played for a long time but I am always there for the team and I am very happy.

‘We have a good lead again - we have kept our distance from Arsenal. We have been top of the league since the beginning and now we are waiting for the Manchester United game.

‘We are playing at home so we are going to do everything to win it. These are the big games we have to win if we want to be champions.’

Gary Cahill spoke about the ‘unbelievable' feeling within the squad following our late win at QPR on Sunday.

The Chelsea defender, who had a busy afternoon as the home side looked to utilise the physical threat of strikers Bobby Zamora and Charlie Austin as often as possible, acknowledged it had been a hard-fought victory.

‘I'd love it to have been more comfortable but we were playing against a team who are fighting for their lives and they made it difficult for us,' said Cahill.

‘It was an unbelievable feeling, we left it late but it's so big for us, especially at this stage of the season. The pitch was as dry as a bone, bobbly and obviously we knew they weren't going to put any water on it. They played direct at every opportunity, it's difficult but sometimes you get joy from that.

‘It wasn't pretty to watch, some of our flair midfield players would have been watching the ball go over their heads every two minutes, but sometimes that's the way it is in the Premier League. Thankfully we defended well and dealt with them.

‘We didn't create too much but all that matters at this stage is the fact we nicked a goal, won 1-0 and went away with three points.'

Cahill always had confidence, even with the clock ticking down, the breakthrough would come.

‘I was hoping one of the creative players would do something special and that was the case,' said the Blues defender. ‘It was a great piece of play down the wing, good timing of the run and Cesc slotted it away.

‘For us it was amazing, the atmosphere in the dressing room was fantastic because we know how potentially big the result could be.'

We now face two huge matches in succession, with the visit of Manchester United on Saturday preceding a trip to Arsenal a week later.

Victories in both of those matches, as well as the following game, away at Leicester, would see us crowned champions, but Cahill is focusing solely on facing Louis van Gaal's side.

‘They're mouth-watering games so everybody's looking forward to them,' he stated. ‘We've chalked another one off at QPR and we're getting closer and closer.

‘Next week we're playing against an in-form Man United team but we're playing at Stamford Bridge and it should be a good game.'

Hiyo ni amsha amsha... Amsha popo... Washkaji hawataki masihara hasa ukizingatia wengine hawana EPL medals..
