After the 23-year-olds first
11 Premier League games
last season, he had scored
four goals and been the
Blues best player.
However, his form tailed off
and he could only double his
Premier League tally this
was, in part, blamed on the
prospects of playing for
Brazil in their home World
Cup.
So far this Premier League
season, the Brazilian has
scored three goals and
produced strong
performances, although Cesc
Fabregas and Diego Costa
have taken the limelight.
But Mourinho believes that
Oscars form will not tail off
this season as he now has
experience of coping with
the demands of the Premier
League.
I think his evolution in one
year was important, he said.
Of course hes not physically
the typical strong man ready
to cope with everything, but
hes very intelligent, very
technical.
The technical point of view
is very important, the way he
plays in the technical
structure of the team: that
makes him feel really happy.
His coach in Brazil, Dunga,
shares the same vision as
me.
He recognises Oscar has
reached a different level in
his game and personality. His
intention is always to
improve.
Is he the kind of kid who
can play 12 times in a
month? I dont think so.
But we have other options,
other players who can play in
his position, and his rest will
arrive to make sure we dont
overload him with minutes
of football.
When pressed on Oscars
form tailing off in the latter
part of the season, Mourinho
suggested that it was just a
normal part of his
development.
I think hes better at every
level, the Blues boss stated.
But, again, what were
going to do now in
December is beautiful, but its
not human.
Its normal that, not just
Oscar... all the Oscars in this
country, its normal they will
all suffer. It is not easy.
Especially the 26th and 28th.
Thats hard.
We have a bit of experience
of that because of the Cups
organisation: Arsenal Sunday
and Tuesday last year; United
and Shrewsbury this year.
And Oscar was one of the
guys who played United and
Shrewsbury, this gift.
So the players will adapt,
but it will be difficult. The
good thing is it will be
difficult for every team. Its
the same for everyone.
