SDD20 diesel locomotive is exported to Tanzania. Its axle load is 20t. It is equipped with 7FDL 12 cylinder diesel engine with electronic fuel injection, 5GTA43A main alternator, 5GE761A23 traction motor, narrow gauge radial bogie with three axles. The car body is of outside corridor. It adopts load-bearing fuel tank. It is AC-DC transmission diesel locomotive with vacuum–air braking system and BRIGHTSTAR microcomputer control technology. The locomotive is equipped with resistance braking device. It has the performance of self-load at all power and double heading in consist.
SDD20 diesel locomotive is developed and manufactured mainly under the consideration of the environment, climate condition and customers’ special requirements of railway transport in Tanzania. The locomotive adopts AC-DC transmission. Main components are manufactured by GE. The auxiliary transmission system adopts mechanical transmission. The air compressor is vacuum-air compressor with mechanical transmission. It adopts single redial console.
