Battle: Dar es Salaam vs Nairobi

Battle: Dar es Salaam vs Nairobi

Kododa, I used to tink that you are one wise guy kumbe you Tanzanians are just cut from the same coat. Mnapenda ubishi na kutokubaliana na facts, even if it's crystal clear. Why is that when we present facts here to counter your outrageous claims/propaganda it has to be cooked data? When will you Tanzanians realize that there are certain sectors that Kenya and Tanzania are just worlds apart, a good example being internet penetration and usage? You don't have to oppose anything just in the name of uzalenda. Nyinyi hata Uganda inawashinda kwa mambo ya internet usage sasa mbona mnaforce kujicompare nasisi?
buda naona umeandika maneno mengi sana.

let use citizen tv mobile app as a case study.the app was released in 2015,mpaka leo downloads hazijafika one million.

app ya azam imekuwa released last year, download imefika one million.utaniambiaje kenya mnaongoza kwa matumizi ya internet ilhali app zenyu zina download chache?.

Kadoda there are many many people (me included) that don't bother downloading those apps, so you can't demonstrate that by comparing the number of local apps downloaded. I don't have any channel app in my phone but I can still watch those channel just like the way I told you earlier

Ni kweli kabisa. Mimi nimewahi kufanya nao kwenye uwanja huu wa IT wao empty kabisa.
IT is another sector ambapo Tanzania haigusi kenya hata robo. Just in case you didn't know, Nairobi was named the most "intelligent city" in Africa. IT is another area where even Uganda scores better than your shithole ujamaa country. Kenya ranks third in infirmation technology In Africa while Tanzania doesn't even make the top ten.

I wonder what we argue with these Tanzanians.....in reality they are no real competitors. They have no planning in dar....
very poor infrastructure....a very weak education system.....they don't excell in any sports......they live in archaic shacks covering 90% of their city.but still have the guts to compare with us

We should just keep quiet and leave them to yap here alone coz I don't see any reason why we should argue with them...kwanza kuna mwingine hapa anajiita Annel, he is claiming that amefanya ICT na hata hajui kama unaezastream live video with only YouTube... I think iyo IT yake ni certificate hata diploma hajafika

You can't use the number of downloads as a base of calculating the number of internet users in a country. That is not scientific analysis and it has never hapeened anywhere. There could be a million reasons why people would download a TV app: Maybe tanzanians just love using apps to stream live as opposed to Kenyans. Or maybe there were incentives like free gifts for every download that could have prompted people to download. As a I said, there could be a million reasons for this. I believe you have an agency that tracks the number of internet users in your country like we have herebin kenya. Maybe you can bring their data on internet usage we compare with the same from our agency coz that would make a lot of sense. Am saying this because the three sites I brought were apparently "cooked" In favour of kenya even though they are not kenyan organizations. I rest my case

What Safaricom’s Sh1.2 trillion net profit means to Tanzanian
thecitizen.co.tz May 11, 2018 8:16 AM
In Summary
The money--fueled by mobile money (M-Pesa) and data revenues--represents a 14 per cent growth from the Ksh48.4 (Sh1.065 trillion) that was registered during the preceding year.

Dar es Salaam. Kenya’s giant telco Safaricom announced a net profit of Ksh55.3 billion (Sh1.2 trillion) on Wednesday for the year ended March, 2018, with analysts saying the money is a wakeup call to Tanzania’s companies.

The money--fueled by mobile money (M-Pesa) and data revenues--represents a 14 per cent growth from the Ksh48.4 (Sh1.065 trillion) that was registered during the preceding year.

Analysis by The Citizen shows that the Sh1.2 trillion is twice as much as what 14 of Tanzania’s top notch companies registered in net profits last year.

Some of the largest and most profitable companies in Tanzania--whose profits can be traced--include TBL Group, TCC, Vodacom, Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited (TPCC) and Swissport Tanzania.

The list also includes banks such as NMB Bank, CRDB Bank, Citibank Tanzania, Barclays Bank Tanzania, Stanbic Bank Tanzania, Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania, NBC Bank, TPB Bank and Bank M among others.

The 14 companies registered a total of Sh592.893 billion in net profits last year, signaling that their combined profits reached about just half of that of Safaricom alone.

TBL, which is arguably the most profitable company in Tanzania, registered a net profit of Sh161.44 billion during the year ending March 31, 2017.

TCC, which, like TBL Group is also one of the most profitable firms in the country, registered a net profit of Sh45.4 billion during the year ending December 31, 2017. As for Vodacom Tanzania, its net profit was Sh47.55 billion in the year ending March 31, 2017.

Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited (TPCC), which also trades as Twiga Cement, recorded a net profit of Sh35.5 billion during the 2017 calendar year while Swissport Tanzania’s net profit was quoted at Sh11.93 billion in 2017.

As for the banking sector, NMB’s profit after tax for 2017 was Sh95 billion while CRDB Bank Group’s profit dropped to Sh69.13 billion during the year ending December 31, 2017 from Sh74 billion in 2016.

Citibank’s annual profit fell to Sh14.3 billion last year from Sh20 billion in 2016 whereas Barclays Bank Tanzania, Stanbic Bank Tanzania, Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania, NBC Bank, TPB Bank and Bank M registered Sh10.9 billion, Sh25 billion, Sh39 billion, Sh15.4 billion, Sh12.8 billion and Sh12.143 billion in net profits last year respectively.

Analysts are of the view that the massive gap would explain the difference in size and thus profitability levels of Tanzania’s companies compared to peers within the region.

“Although I have not done my own analysis of the figures, such a difference would theoretically be explained by the fact that the companies we deem to be large locally may not be that huge within the region or internationally,” said Prof Honest Ngowi of Mzumbe University.

He noted, however, that several marketing and operational aspects would have to be considered to come up with concrete responses on reasons behind the huge difference in profitability.

Open Ope
Hahaha...yani Kenya na Tanzania ni kama usiku na mchana; hazipatani hata kidogo. Yani Safaricom alone made twice in profits what Tanzania's 14 biggest and most profitable companies made combined!? Yani Safcom ni kubwa kushindwa hizi 14 Tanzanian companies combined! And they wonder why/how we have a bigger economy than them.
