There is nothing wrong in giving them a hand to uplift themselves in matters of shelter which is a basic human need .
The income they make is not enough to afford shelter similar to affordable housing therefore government subsidies is the key to achieving it but it doesn’t make it a free house ( that’s communism and Kenya is not Ujamaa system like you ). They pay subsidized mortgages .
There is more the government and the private sector can do in terms of economic opportunities in these areas in order to raise income levels but providing decent housing is a noble cause practiced the world over by responsible governments.
