Ethiopian Airlines to Inaugurate Three New Domestic Airports and Commence New Passenger Services​

Addis Ababa, 18 February 2026

Ethiopian Airlines, the largest network operating carrier in Africa, is delighted to announce its plan to inaugurate three new domestic airports and launch passenger flights to the destinations by mid-April 2026. The new airports are located in Negele Borena, Gore Metu, and Debre Markos.

Ethiopian plans to operate thrice weekly passenger flights to each of the destinations. The addition of the 3 destinations increases Ethiopian Airlines’ domestic network to 26, further boosting air connectivity throughout the country.

Commenting on the achievements, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew said, “The inauguration of these three new airports, along with the commencement of passenger services, represents a major milestone for Ethiopian Airlines and for the nation as a whole. This expansion reflects our steadfast commitment to enhancing connectivity within Ethiopia and serves as a powerful driver of economic growth and regional development. Our mission is to build an inclusive and integrated air transport network that empowers communities, unlocks economic opportunities, and supports national development by making safe, reliable, and efficient air travel accessible to all.”

As Ethiopian Airlines prepares to integrate these three new destinations into its network, its focus on modernizing the domestic travel experience remains firm, highlighted by infrastructure renovation and enhancement. It is to be recalled that the airline inaugurated Yabello airport as the 23rd domestic destination in 2025.

Dodoma ni jiji la tofauti sana. Wakundustan ni vile wanajifanya hawaelewi. Hili jiji lina miundombinu mingi na population yake 765K (not 600K). Kasi ya ujenzi wa Dodoma ni kubwa na inaendana na population, hata siku Dodoma iki hit 1M population haitakuwa na slum, litakuwa jiji la mfano hapa East Africa ambalo linajitahidi kukua kwa kasi without congestion, pollution na ujenzi wa slums everywhere like Kenyan cities
Dodoma inajengwa kwa akili sana. Sio kama Kisumu ambayo imepata street lights 2026 😂😂

Umeona Israel wakigombania maji na mifugo yao ikifa kwa njaa kama Kenya?
Kenya ni African country kwa hiyo way of life ni very different. Jamii za Kiafrika vijijini mostly ni wakulima na wafugaji tena wafugaji wa kawaida, wanahitaji good land. Kama hiyo sio shida usingeona Wakenya wakifa njaa.
UAE wana jangwa lakini wana mafuta, watu wao hawategemei ardhi yao kufanyia kilimo au ufugaji. Ni case tofauti na Kenya/Tanzania
Hata Tanzania maeneo yenye ukame hayajafikia Kenya. There's nothing beautiful here

You're such an idiot you don't even understand the road marking code in your country. Tanzania's centerline is normally in white, not yellow. The road is not Tanzanian.....and to think you used to claim to be a civil engineer.🚮🚮
