Port of Dar es salaam Tanzania Collected $4.95 Billion, But Port of Mombasa Kenya Collected $518.0 Million 2025​


The Port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania has emerged as a powerful economic engine for the country’s growth trajectory. According to recent reports, upgrades and increased operational efficiency at the port helped the Tanzanian government collect TSh 12.33 trillion (about USD 4.95 billion) in revenue in the 2024/2025 fiscal year — a significant achievement that highlights Tanzania’s rising influence in regional trade and logistics.

In contrast, the Port of Mombasa in Kenya — East Africa’s largest port infrastructure hub — has not reported revenue figures as high as those collected by Dar es Salaam in recent years. Historical data and media analysis suggest that the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) generated revenue of approximately KSh 60.98 billion (around USD 518 million) in its last published fiscal results prior to 2024.
