Budget airline JamboJet has stopped flying larger aircraft to Eldoret and Kisumu, citing low passenger volumes just months after it introduced direct flights to the destinations.
The firm’s managing director, Wllem Hondius, said it has not been economical to operate Boeing 737-300 aircraft to the towns, because of the low volumes that resulted from direct flights to Eldoret and Kisumu.
Jambojet once offered non-stop flights from Eldoret to Kisumu, with a single flight operating daily (JM 8700), departing around 12:20 PM, arriving approximately 12:55–13:05 PM, with a flight time of about 35 minutes .
However, these direct Jambojet services were discontinued—the Kisumu→Eldoret route ended in June 2022 and no return service has been scheduled since .
Similarly, historical Eldoret→Kisumu flights disappeared after mid‑2022 due to low passenger volumes and operational adjustments .
