Rais wa Tanzania John Pombe Magufuli, amezindua uwanja wa kisasa wa ndegevita wa Ngerengere uliofanyiwa ukarabati baada ya miundombinu ya uwanja huo kuharibika.
Katika hotuba yake Rais Magufuli amelipongeza Jeshi la Tanzania (JWTZ) kwa kazi kubwa linayofanya na pia akamshukuru Rais wa China Xi Jinping na Serikali yake kwa msaada mkubwa iliyoutoa kujenga uwanja huo.

Mkuu wa Majeshi ya Ulinzi Jenerali Venance Salvatory Mabeyo amesema ukarabati wa uwanja huo ulioanza tarehe 15 Julai, 2013 umegharimu Tanzania bilioni 137 na milioni 631 ikiwa ni ufadhili wa Serikali ya China na umehusisha kujenga upya njia ya kuruka na kutua ndege yenye urefu wa mita 3,000 upana wa mita 45 na unene wa sentimeta 45.
Jenerali Mabeyo ameongeza kuwa uwanja huo ni miongoni mwa viwanja bora zaidi duniani kwa sasa na una uwezo wa kutumiwa na ndege za aina zote zilizo chini ya Boeing 777 huku akibainisha kuwa pamoja na ndege za kivita pia unaweza kutumiwa na ndege za kawaida za abiria kwa dharula.
Aidha, Magufuli ameahidi kujenga barabara ya lami ya kuunganisha kamandi ya Jeshi la anga ya Ngerengere na barabara kuu ya Dar es Salaam - Morogoro.
