Arsenal fans make their feelings clear over Gunners poor form

Arsenal Supporters' Trust have expressed their 'considerable disappointment' over the Gunners' recent results, but will reserve final judgement on Arsene Wenger's young squad until the end of the season.

Heading into March, Arsenal were very much in the hunt for all four trophies. However, six weeks later and things are very different.

The shock last-minute Carling Cup final defeat at Wembley was swiftly followed by their exit from the Champions League in Barcelona before Arsenal then lost their FA Cup quarter-final away to Manchester United.

Saturday's frustrating goalless draw against 10-man Blackburn saw the Gunners drop seven points behind United, albeit with a game in hand ahead of their May 1 showdown at Emirates Stadium.

The disappointment of another season which promised so much looking set to now deliver nothing prompted angry reaction from some of the Gunners supporters.

The AST are viewed as the custodians of the club's traditions, representing the views of small minority shareholders, making their concerns directly to the Arsenal board and are about to conduct their regular members' survey.

While there is no suggestion of a fans' revolt, it is clear continually playing second fiddle to the likes of United, Chelsea and big-spending Manchester City is a difficult sell.

A statement from AST read: 'The Arsenal Supporters' Trust was formed to increase supporters' influence in how Arsenal is run and we regularly represent the views of our members to the Arsenal board and chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

'In recent years we have been an influential voice on many issues such as calling for an improved commercial strategy including an overseas tour and the need for the club to field strong teams in all of the cup competitions.

'There is of course considerable disappointment amongst all Arsenal fans at recent results in the cup competitions and the long period Arsenal has gone without winning a trophy.

'The AST continually holds the club to account and have formal structures in place for reviewing the progress made every season.

'In the coming weeks we will undertake this work which includes holding consultative meetings and conducting a membership survey.

'When we have gathered the views of all of our members we will present them to the board and meet with Ivan Gazidis for a more detailed discussion.

'We will also hold our annual end of season Q&A with Ivan Gazidis which allows all supporters to put their views directly to the chief executive.'

Wenger continues to stress his players must focus on returning to winning ways after three draws than be distracted by any jeers which greeted them as they walked off against Rovers.

The Gunners boss knows, however, there can be no more bad days at the office if they are to somehow overhaul United and claim a first title since the Invincibles campaign of 2003/2004.

Arsenal head to fast-fading Blackpool on Sunday in search of a first league win since February 23.

Midfielder Alex Song is a concern, having picked up a knock to his troublesome knee last weekend, while Denilson missed the Rovers game because of a toe injury.

Second place is a success, says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger - ESPN Soccernet

... ... ... maneno ya Arsene .. ... . huwa nacheka sana few years back walikuwa wanasema Arsenal ina wachezaji wengi wa kigeni, wanapowataka kina Wishere au Walcott ndio siku pekee wanampa heshima Wenger ... ... .... .... .... ... .

Na hapa chini vipi?!! Hii ni kutoka The Sun gazeti ulipendalo na sio ESPN Soccernet:

Arsene is happy to be 2nd rate

ARSENE WENGER says he would happily finish second in the league for two DECADES.

The Arsenal boss said: "As long as you are second in the league, I am ready to sign for the next 20 years.

"I believe we have done well. We have been hit very hard with big disappointments but we have not lost in the FA Cup or the Champions League against anybody, we have lost against good teams.

"Personally, I am very proud of the attitude, the behaviour and the quality of our season."

His comments will stun Gunners fans who have seen their quadruple bid perish, leaving them just a title tilt left.

But he added: "I am only very proud of what this team has done."

Arsene Wenger says second place is 'not a disaster'

Wenger's side are second in the Premier League, seven points behind Manchester United with a game in hand

Arsene Wenger insists failure to win a trophy for a sixth successive season would not be a "disaster" for Arsenal. The Arsenal Supporters' Trust recently expressed "considerable disappointment" at recent results.
The Gunners boss said: "We are second in the league. Is that a disaster? There are teams who invest 10 times more than us, and they are behind us.
"Some of the clubs behind us have done nothing for 20 years, yet suddenly get a lot of praise. I don't understand."
He added: "If we are disappointed at the end [of the season] then OK. Why do you say it's a disaster when we are second in the league? Do the 18 clubs behind us have a fantastic disaster?"
The Gunners are second in the Premier League behind Manchester United, but were knocked out of the FA Cup and the Champions League in the last six weeks, as well as losing the Carling Cup final to Birmingham.
They have not won a trophy since the FA Cup in 2005 - but have been a permanent fixture in the top four of the table, earning regular Champions League participation.
And the Frenchman wants any criticism of his team to be put into context, insisting they are heading in the right direction.
Wenger went on: "We have been in the Champions League for 15 years, and there are only two clubs who have done that in this country - it is us and Manchester United.

If I look at this team I'm proud of them, proud of the attitude of the players and the football we play

Arsene Wenger

"Trophies are one way to judge a club. They're not overrated as it allows you to say you have won a trophy, but would you swap winning the FA Cup for playing in the Champions League?
"Is it a trophy or not to be in the Champions League? Is it more important to win the FA Cup?"
"We do as well as we can, and if it's not good enough it's not good enough, but what I deny is that everything is suddenly negative. We have built this club. Look at the players in this team. I will speak to you in 10 years."
Wenger also gave a staunch defence of his policy to invest in youth rather than signing proven stars, adding: "We have done well for our age as we are second in the league.
"There are teams who invest 10 times more than us, one player cost more than the whole team and they are behind us. I don't understand the way people think."
Having dropped points at home in the draw with 10-man Blackburn last weekend, Arsenal trail leaders United by seven points with a game in hand.
Ahead of Saturday's trip to Bloomfield Road to take on Ian Holloway's Blackpool, Wenger urged everyone involved with the club to get behind the team as they chase a first title since 2004.
"We have eight games to go and are in a position to fight for the championship, so let's give the maximum," he said.
"If I cannot defend the fact that we are second in the league and fighting for the championship then I should stay at home, but I am in a fighting job."
Wenger reaffirmed his belief that this Arsenal team will enjoy success, and can rise above any criticism that comes their way.
"If I look at this team I'm proud of them, proud of the attitude of the players and the football we play," he added.
"It's only in this country that we have to face what we face. If you go anywhere else in the world Arsenal are given much more credit, I can tell you."

Kumbe! that is the defenition of 'sucess' as far as Wenger is concerned?...LMAO!
I love it, unajua asiyekubali kushindwa simshindani.

Nasikia Peasant amefufuka baada ya kunywa dawa ya babu kule Loliondo baada ya kipigo kutoka kwa Manure ... ... .... ... hata airtel nao wameweza kumaliza kazi kwa haraka zaidi ili kuvuna wateja wanaokwenda Loliondo kumuona Babu lakini hawa peasant pamoja na hiyo dawa wameshindwa kumjengea mchezaji aliyenunuliwa kwa millioni £50 tena pale pale kwenye cowshed yao, chacha kweli wataweza kumjengea pale Old Trafford?

Coward peasants chijui tuwarudishe shuleni tena maana huwa hawaelewi lugha. Prof Wenger alisema hivi chacha tafsiri ya wakuda hiyo ni juu yao read the words from the lips of the man .... .... .. ...

... .. .. 'Rather, I have to be proud because if I took statements from all the people here at the start of the season we were not even in the top five. Now it is a scandal we are second. 'If at the end of the season Manchester United are better than us, we have to say congratulations. What is important from now until the end of the season if we give absolutely everything to beat them. That for me is success.'.. .... ..

Nafahamu bado wanawewesekaweweseka tu maana hawajui nini kitafuatia. ... ..... .. huhitaji kutumia rocket science kufahamu kwamba Arsenal wanashikilia nafasi ya pili na wana chance ya kunyakua ubingwa mwaka huu, ... ... ... waulize mafioso team je, do they have any chance? Mathematically yes but practically no.

Mchambuzi Peasant yu wapi jamani?

Chelsea and Fat Arses are both in the same boat, the difference is one point (plz don't come with that old crap of game in hand, you can only be sure of points in hand) . The fact is, mathematically it's possible but practically is questionable for both of us because we depend on other teams to get results against Manure....in short, both team can't control their destiny, that's where the practical part of it becoming questionable.

Again, I can see Chelsea finish above Arsenal....BTW congratulation for overachieving so far?

Dah! Man U leo tena kashinda!Ubingwa tuusahau msimu huu! Tujipange upya msimu ujao with a new coach and quality squad

Kuszczak: Set to wave goodbye to United

Goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has confirmed that he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season.
The Poland international has been unable to dislodge Edwin van der Sar from the Old Trafford starting XI and has decided to call time on his Old Trafford career.
Despite the fact that Dutch veteran van der Sar is hanging up his gloves when the current campaign concludes, Kuszczak is not sticking around to fight for the number one spot.
Sir Alex Ferguson is widely expected to dip into the transfer market to find a replacement and the former Hertha Berlin and West Brom shot-stopper accepts he does not fit the bill for the Scottish tactician.
He said: "I'm definitely leaving the club. My time in Manchester is coming to an end.
"I've worked hard for five years but I never played as much as I wanted. It's a shame the manager didn't really give me a chance.
"I always believed I can be Edwin van der Sar's successor. Unfortunately, Sir Alex has decided differently.
"Even though I played many games, I spent most of my time on the bench."
Kuszczak, who has made just 30 Premier League appearances since arriving at Old Trafford in August 2006, claims he would not have been as patient at any other club.
But fears over his international future with the European Championships in his homeland looming next summer have left him with little option.
He added: "I accepted that as I had a great rival, one of the world's best keepers, and Manchester was the only club where I could accept that role for so long.
"But I've had enough of waiting. I want to play in Euro 2012. Staying here I could be left out by Poland's coach.
"I spoke to Alex Ferguson about my role on many occasions.
"The manager was in a difficult position. But he also knew Edwin is retiring after this season so he could give me a few more chances to play.
"We didn't speak that much to convince me next year I can be number one."
