US Election Coverage 2008

kaka Rufiji,

YournameisMINE,

Asante kwa kunirekebisha . Kitila, I am sorry for taking your comments out of context. It is my hope that my sincere apology will be accepted.

I have just finished reading Barack's entire speech. I must acknowledge from the outset that this was a great speech rarely available in the contemporary politic that is sadly full of opportunistic politicians who are undaring and timid of saying anything that will scare their voters. But I very much doubt if this was the right audience; it would appear to me that this speech ought to have been made in a lecture full of Oxbridge and Havard alumni. Unless I am advised otherwise, I thought that he was on a campaign trail trying to woo voters who had been rightly disillusioned by Wright's remarks. My reading of this speech doesn't make me think that this is what he has achieved. Clearly, this speech will go into the list of speeches that changed the way Americans think, but I very much doubt if it will add anything to his bid for presidency other than compromise it further!

Nafikiri YN ameshaiweka vizuri. Sikumaanisha hivyo kaka, nilimaanisha wale watani zangu kisiasa wa kwenye forum hapa, akina Chinga na mwenzake Kada, I made it jokingly. Samahani kwa kukwazika na nashukuru kwa kunielewa. I really enjoy these debates and I take them seriously, but really not too seriously! So, that is me, take me seriously, but not too seriously please!

Did you read where he admitted to having been sitting in the pew while his pastor was preaching controversial stuff? Isn't that inconsistent with what he said last Friday when he made his rounds in the media when he denied to not have been there while Rev. Wright spewed his hate?

Ushabiki pembeni!!!

Will it change anything or it will further raise more questions?

Barack's speech today ime expose Nyani Ngabu na Kitumbo Kitumbo jinsi walivyo shallow and ignorant, poleni sana and hope soon mtaanza kusafisha hizo negative junk huko vichwani mwenu na leo nimeongeza donation to obama campaign!
Obama 08!

Well, simplicity has always been the enemy of the truth and certainly this election will not change this factual statement. Sasa angalia isije ikawa wewe ndio shallow, maana umdhaniye ndiye wakati mwingine huwa sio.

The least you can do is admit you underestimated it's gravity....

So, forget about them learning anything in this say apart from saying mambo ya wazungu hayo..

He exposed the America's true but unspoken identity.

Ok, swali, will this speech help Obama's campaign? Well, to me, probably it will not have much effect on the present nomination process. It may be too late to stop Obama from getting the nomination (which if course I doubt if it is at all too late), but I believe we will be able to see the impact of this speech and Wright's comments in the general election.
Both his speech and Wright's comments will consistently be use directly or indirectly against him.

Sijui average Joes na coffee drinkers wameichukulia vipi? ila nadhani week hii yote may be through out the election season tutakachokuwa tunasikia au kukumbushwa every once in a while ni Rev Wright comments na "A More Perfect Union".

Nakumbuka mwanzoni mwa thread na ata last week nilisema Obama angekuwa mzungu sasa hivi angekuwa ameshakuwa nominated...maana wazungu nao sometimes unaweza kuwa unacheka naye na anakuuspport lakini akienda kwenye decisions anakutosa.hii ni wake up call kwa Dems.

On the flipside, one can argue that it's not only white people who are racist. Black people are too as evidenced by the videos we've seen so far. Also, how do you explain the 90% backing of African Americans that he has....isn't that racial also?

I think he has lost even more credibility with people by badmouthing the American constitution, one of the finest documents ever written. Slavery had nothing to do with the American constitution so I am not sure why he even brought it up.

speech ya leo imebadilisha mood kidogo in favor of Obama, I believe by the end of the wk baada ya alichosema ku-sink in ndani ya mind za walio wengi, ndio tutajua hasa the significance of this speech.

NN,

wapi jamaa kaponda katiba ya US?? kivipi kapoteza credibility? ebu nijibu hayo maswali....

of course it is racial!! lakini Obama hajafanya chochote kujiweka yeye kama Black candidate, haja code message yoyote kufanya watu weusi wam-vote yeye kwasababu tu ni mweusi. Kimsingi, wameanza kum-vote kwa wengi baada ya SC na zile comments za Bill Clinton.......hayupo comfortable kwa kupata black votes nyingi, kwani ni wazi tendo hilo lina deviate whites voters from him!!.
kwani ni kina nani waliokuwa wanasema kwamba hayupo black enough? na sasa ni kina nani wanasema kwamba he is too black?
jamaa amekuwa criticized na both sides(black and white), speech ya leo kwa kiasi kukibwa inapigwa madogo na weusi zaidi kuliko wazungu!! go figure.

NN kama unakumbuka earlier kwenye hii thread tulisema kuwa watakaomponza Obama kwenye campaign ni watu weusi kwa kuigeuza hii kitu kama jukwaa lao la kukimbilia na kusupport just because he is black na sio contents za message zake au mambo mengine yanayoendelea nchi hii.

Amejaribu sana kujidistance kwenye hayo mambo ya race lakini as we both know hii issue ni very sensitive and was very difficult to avoid it, Ninaamini kuwa ilikuwa na bado inawala wagombea wote ni kuwa tu walikuwa wanategea nani atakuwa wa kwanza kuiweka wazi.

.....jamaa ka-denounce Dr. Wright kidogo tu, ma-rev wengine weusi wakam-denounce yeye. Leo haja m-throw Dr. Wright under the bus kuna watu(black and white) wana lalamika.....sasa jamaa afanyaje jamani??
eti kwanini asibadili kanisa!!? we unafikiri unabadili kanisa kama vile unavyobadili soksi? utaenda kanisa gani hapa US(hasa black) ambalo ni 100 per free from controverses? hata hayo makanisa ya wazungu pia kuna mambo ya ajabu yanasemwa......isitoshe kwenye congregation ya Dr. Wright wapo na wazungu pia!!

kuna jamaa anasema kwamba, "the most segregated day in america is sunday." What about that?? jibu lake, ndio hasa kisa cha speech ya leo.
