Inter captain Javier Zanetti has said reaching the Champions League final is fully deserved after beating Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate.
The Nerazzurri held on with 10-men after Thiago Motta was sent off in the first half. But, despite conceding a late goal to Gerard Pique, they can now look forward to the Madrid final against Bayern Munich.
"We suffered, but we deserve to be in the final. We were tremendous. Apart from the inferno from the fans we were focused on the game," he told Rai Uno after the match.
"And, apart from Thiago Motta's red card, we showed all the spirit of the group and this was important.
"Now we are thinking about Madrid, but also the league."
Inter thus reach their first European Cup final since 1972. Back then they played Johan Cruyff's Ajax and lost 2-0 in Rotterdam.
