The number of electors collected by President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney is constantly changing as more results come in. Obama stands at 172, Romney 174 - out of the 270 needed to win the election. Obama improved his position after provisionally carrying Wisconsin and New Hampshire. But some key battleground states are still too close to call.
Ohio gave Obama a 1 percent edge over Romney. In Florida the provisional count was Romney; 49.73 pc vs. 49.42 pc for Obama. Pennsylvania is projected to fall to Obama. In Virginia, the two candidates tied at 49 percent, and were down to the wire in Missouri, Colorado and Nevada.
Obama is also projected to take Maine, Delaware, Connecticut, Maryland, Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, South Dakota and Massachusetts, as well as Minnesota, Michigan and Iowa; Romney to win West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Kansas, Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota, as well as Utah, New Mexico and Montana.
All these figures are liable to change as real results come in.
