Well, the denial was expected, no surprises here.
However, fact is the Prez. does dress immaculately and very fashionably. Those ties, those shoes, those perfectly tailored suits in expensive fabric right out of a Tycoons wardrobe. Nothing wrong with coveting designer, expensive clothes, but where does the money come from to pay for this merchandise? Another fact is that the Kempinski group did get their beautiful lodge built on the Serengeti and the Prez. was there for the opening. Nothing wrong with that, its a lovely hotel, but how did they get the deed for the land?
Also, I am a bit disappointed no newspaper is reporting the whole Kikwete tidbit, they are editing out the 1000.00 cash filled white envelop delivered by a S.Asian businessman for one of Mr. Kikwete's personal 'events' in the guestrooms. Why so much censoring of a "baseless, worthless" cable talk?
I'd like to talk facts here about this cable, after seeing and hearing things with my own eyes and ears on my recent trip to Dar, I am inclined to believe there is truth in this baseless, worthless cable. Especially concerning how business is conducted in Tanzania. Fact is just look around you and see who are benefitting from their "closeness" to the higher level officials in GoT? Fact is how come there is a certain case which was already decided by the highest court of land, the COA in 2003, still languishing at the DAR high court today as an ongoing special project of few TZ officials&their elite friends? So that money flows out of BoT into the pockets of the project managers? AND no One cares to stop it! Wouldn't a President be more concerned about matters like Rule of Law, good governance, Justice, human rights, about a daylite robbery going on at the BoT with TZ taxpayers money filling the pockets of these project managers and their friends?
Having said that, I am more inclined to believe the WL cables then the "denial" from Ikulu. There is plenty of truth to the WLcable about the way business is done in TZ.
