Unfortunately, that doesn't add anything meaningful to this debate, on the contrary, it goes to show how folks are willing to believe and accept Michael Retzer's allegations at face value without any hard evidence whatsoever on his part, simply based on the virtue of the fact that he happened to be the US Ambassador to Tanzania at that time; which needless to say, would be akin to committing the fallacy of Authority.

Ukiisoma vizuri cable 277 utaona balozi wa Marekani na JK hawana tofauti, na wote wawili inawezekana walikuwa wanagongana katika misako ya looseballs hapo Kempinski, na mmoja kati ya hao ma looseballs anaweza kuwa ni huyo Lisa, na Lisa anaweza kuwa alikuwa looseball wa balozi wa Marekani.

Umeona alivyompamba kwamba "anatoka katika familia bora ya serikali ya PM Howard" why was that necessary? Umeona "protect" ? Wangapi wanaosoma hizi cables wanaelewa alimaanisha nini pale?

Hata kama JK kanunuliwa nguo, hakuna jinsi ya kumshurutisha lolote kuhusu hili. This is where one has to pull a Cyrus Vance Jr ove DSK type of retreat. Not enough credible evidence to prosecute even though almost everybody sane knew the crime/ fracas took place. But are we talking about a moral or legal issue here/ We don't know. We don't have the requisite evidence. I would love to shoot JK with this, but if I want to be objective, I just have to say "not enough evidence to prosecute" like Cyrus Vance Jr. Even though all circumstantial evidence (more like crescendo of innuendo really) points to a guilt verdict on the part of JK, it is still not a solid enough case to shake any man, let alone a head of state with clauses of immunity and paws of claws of impunity, not to mention tonz of gunz in his diplomatic ammunition.

I can't even imagine the exchange btn the US Embassy and Ikulu right now!

The leaders have become close friends over the past two years [2005-2007] and exemplify the ever-strengthening relationship between the United Republic of Tanzania and the United States of America. On August 31, Ambassador Retzer completeed his tenure as President Bush's personal representative to Tanzania. Over the past two years 2005-2007], he has orchestrated an increase in U.S. assistance, particularly in combating HIV/AIDS and Malaria, to well over $400,000,000 (500 billion Tsh/-).

Ambassador Michael L. Retzer alikuwa na skendo zake pia

Michael Retzer was named as Ambassador to Tanzania by President George W. Bush on June 28, 2005, and the Senate confirmed him on July 29, 2005. Retzer was sworn in by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as United States Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania on August 24, 2005, and presented his credentials to President Benjamin Mkapa in Dar Es Salaam on September 1, 2005.

Retzer ended his ambassadorship in Tanzania during the summer of 2007 amidst controversy over his attempts to consolidate the Peace Corps mission there with the embassy. On account of his actions and subsequent disapproval from the Peace Corps and the US Senate, the State Department issued a written apology to the Peace Corps Country Director, Chrisine Djondo.

On June 8, 2007 the White House announced that Retzer would be replaced as Ambassador to Tanzania by Mark Green, 47, a former Republican congressman and unsuccessful gubernatorial candidate in Wisconsin. On June 14, 2007, the Peace Corps announced its strong disagreement with the decision of Retzer, to withdraw the authorization for Peace Corps Country Director Christine Djondo to remain in Tanzania and the adverse effects of Retzer's decision on the Peace Corps program in Tanzania including cutting the incoming group of volunteers by half to ensure adequate support.

On June 27 Senator Chris Dodd put a hold on the nomination of Mark Green to replace Retzer as Ambassador citing Retzer's action as interference in the independence of the Peace Corps. Dodd asked that Retzer rescind his cable of no confidence of Djondo or that the State Department provide a written apology to her. On June 28, the State Department provided a written letter of apology to Djondo and Senator Dodd released his hold on Green's nomination allowing it to go forward.

Sitaki kumtetea Kikwete, atoms know I am incensed, but I just want to apply the same level of scrutiny for both parties in this melee.

Mkuu sana Comrade, even atoms have affinity to some of their likings more so than others. They get excited and agitated more when sub-particles within are under magnetic, electronic, mechanical, etc pressure from the outside. Thus, "the affinity" here is for us to deal with our "neighbouring atoms" first in order to find an equilibrium point, settling down into a formidable compound before embarking on a mission to attack distant, unreachable compounds. Retzer ni pilipili ya mbali na haiwezituwasha kinamna hiyo, Kikwete on the other hand ni zimwi tulijualo... Given an opportunity to delve into this, I think we'd rather deal with the incumbent in the office first thereafter move to an out of office diplomat!!!
