prediction success, but the third time is
always a charm. October 21 2011 will
be the End of the World according to
Harold Camping, as he mistakenly
thought May 21st would be the Rapture. Instead of the original
prediction that there would be 5
months of torment, and destruction,
we’re now learning that the End of the World and Rapture will call come at
once. That’s right, the world will be destroyed on October 21 2011
according to the teachings of Harold Camping. Judgement Day will be
October 21st, you once again have
enough time to be saved.

But it's hard for the media to ignore it when you have a whole bunch of people actually believing in what he is saying. The guy had bought a lot of advertisement space in a handful of major US cities and put up humongous billboards warning/ telling people of the doomsday. One couldn't miss them and if one couldn't miss them, one couldn't ignore the news either.

So no matter how ridiculous that sounds from a journalistic point of view covering his predictions was newsworthy. But I think in the next go-around he won't get as much coverage as he did in the first because his credibility has completely been shattered (not that he had one to begin with). Even the number of believers will almost certainly dwindle.
