Fundraising and Communications Manager – 1 Position

Location: Arusha (with travel to Mara Region)

Job Summary

The Fundraising and Communications Manager will lead fundraising and resource mobilization initiatives, with a particular focus on identifying and securing funding opportunities within Tanzania while strengthening relationships with donors and partners. The role combines fundraising, strategic communications, partnership development, proposal writing, and donor engagement to support the organization's long-term sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead fundraising and resource mobilization efforts by identifying funding opportunities, developing donor relationships, engaging partners, and securing sustainable financial resources.

2. Contribute to the organization's strategic planning by developing annual fundraising plans, budgets, communication plans, and monitoring fundraising performance against organizational goals.

3. Review donor requirements and lead the development of high-quality proposals, budgets, and reports that comply with donor guidelines, contractual obligations, and the organization's vision, mission, and values.

4. Develop and maintain effective communication materials, including donor updates, reports, newsletters, social media content, program success stories, and other visibility materials.

5. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors, stakeholders, and partners through regular communication, presentations, meetings, events, and timely updates.

6. Plan and coordinate fundraising campaigns and events, including the November fundraising event in Arusha and the Chamriho 5K Run in Bunda, while engaging sponsors and managing fundraising initiatives.

7. Collaborate with program teams to collect, analyze, and document data, impact stories, and evidence to strengthen donor reporting, communication, and future funding proposals.

8. Prepare and submit regular fundraising, communication, and donor reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the Country Office.

9. Build the fundraising and partnership capacity of program staff through training and technical support on donor relations, funding policies, reporting, contract management, and compliance requirements.

10. Coordinate the implementation of fundraising plans and budgets while strengthening relationships with government institutions, corporate organizations, development partners, and local stakeholders to expand sustainable funding opportunities.

Key Requirements and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Agricultural Economics, International Relations, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. A relevant Master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within nonprofit organizations or similar settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant proposal writing, donor reporting, fundraising strategy development, budget preparation, resource mobilization, donor compliance, contract management, and donor relationship management.
  • Strong strategic communication and digital communication skills.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven experience in building staff capacity in fundraising, donor compliance, contract management, communication standards, and partnership management.
  • Demonstrated leadership, innovation, integrity, accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct in fundraising, communications, partnerships, and donor engagement.
  • Applicants should clearly highlight in their CVs successful funding proposals they have developed and grants or funding they have secured.
