Bingwa wa mbio za Marathon za Olimpiki mara mbili Eliud Kipchoge ameshinda mbio za Berlin Marathon kwa kuweka rekodi mpya. Kipchoge alishinda mbio hizo kwa kukimbia saa 2:01:09 katika mbio za maili 26.2.

Ameshinda rekodi yake ya Dunia kwa tofauti ya sekunde 30 dhidi ya Mark Korir aliyeibuka wa pili saa 2:05.

Kipchoge alidakia nusu ya kwanza ya mbio hizo kwa dakika 59:51, karibu dakika moja chini ya kile alichoomba katika maelezo yake ya kasi; 60:50.

Alikuwa amepitia kilomita 5 za kwanza kwa muda wa 14:14 na akatoka kilomita 10 kwa saa 28:23, ndani ya Rekodi yake ya Dunia ya 2018.

President William Ruto and AU envoy Raila Odinga have congratulated Eliud Kipchoge for breaking the World Record by winning the Berlin Marathon in 2:01.09.
Kipchoge broke his own world marathon record with a run to shed off 30 seconds of his won previous mark.
Via Twitter on Sunday, Ruto said Kipchoge the greatest has done it again.

"The greatest has done it again; breaking the world record! Congratulations @EliudKipchoge for winning the Berlin Marathon for the fourth time," he said.
"You are truly the King of the Marathon."
Raila also congratulated Kipchoge saying he is arguably the best marathoner.
"...and now you've taken your domination of the distance notches higher," Raila said.
"A great precision run flawlessly executed once more, breaking the world record. Congratulations @EliudKipchoge. Keep flying our high."
Kipchoge won the race in 2:01:09 over the gruelling 26.2 miles at the Berlin Marathon
He beat his own World record by 30 seconds. Mark Korir came in second at 2:05.

Kipchoge knackered the first half of the race in 59:51, almost a minute less than what he had asked for in his pace notes; 60:50.
He had gone through the first 5km in 14:14 and cleared 10km in 28:23, well within his 2018 World Record.

Appearing for the FIFTH time on the Berlin Marathon tracks, our very own, @EliudKipchoge has run a lifetime race to break his own 2018 World Record.
