Uganda will hold a regional memorial service on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to mark the first anniversary of the death of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.

The service will begin at 9:00 a.m. at All Saints’ Cathedral in Nakasero, Kampala, with prayers and a candle-lighting ceremony.

The event is organised by the Pan-African Global Business Forum under Capt. Mike Mukula, National Chairman of the Pan-African Movement Uganda Chapter.

Mukula has invited Ugandans, Kenyans and other East Africans to attend. Expected guests include government officials, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Uganda, Ababu Namwamba, and members of regional communities.

The gathering aims to honour Odinga’s legacy and promote African unity and regional cooperation.

Odinga, popularly known as “Baba,” died on October 15, 2025, aged 80, while receiving medical treatment in India. He served as Kenya’s Prime Minister and was a longtime opposition leader known for his advocacy for democracy, justice and Pan-Africanism.

The Kampala service will form part of wider commemorations of his life and legacy across the region.
