OBURU SPEAKS FROM MEDICAL REST AS ODM HONOURS RAILA

ODM Party Leader Dr Oburu Oginga has sent a message to party members as Kenya marks one year since the death of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga. The commemoration is taking place at Migwena Cultural Grounds in Bondo, Siaya County, bringing together family members, political leaders and supporters to celebrate Raila’s life and legacy.

In his statement, Oburu revealed that his doctors had ordered him to observe strict bed rest and avoid public appearances for the immediate future as he continues receiving treatment. His message was delivered on his behalf at the gathering, explaining why he could not personally attend the anniversary event.

Despite his absence, the veteran politician reassured ODM supporters that he was responding well to treatment. He also emphasised that the party’s operations remained active, seeking to reassure members amid concerns about its leadership and future following Raila’s death.

Oburu’s message comes at an emotionally significant moment for the Odinga family and the ODM movement. As supporters remember Raila’s decades-long contribution to Kenya’s democracy and politics, the party faces the challenge of preserving his legacy while navigating a new chapter under Oburu’s leadership.
