Adnan Januzaj: Man Utd winger joins Sunderland on season-long loan deal

Adnan Januzaj has six caps for Belgium
Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj has joined fellow Premier League side Sunderland on a season-long loan.

The move reunites the 21-year-old with former boss David Moyes, as well as ex-team-mates Donald Love and Paddy McNair who joined for a £5.5m fee this week.

Belgium international Januzaj had asked to leave Old Trafford on a permanent transfer but United preferred a loan.

He has scored five goals in 63 appearances for the club and is under contract until the summer of 2018.

Januzaj spent four months on loan to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund last season, but played only 12 games before returning to his parent club.

United boss Jose Mourinho said of the switch: "He fits in my plans. That is why he is on loan at a Premier League club

"If he doesn't fit in my plans, I don't care where he is going, I just send him to Borussia Dortmund where he didn't play one match. He is talented."

Andreas Pereira is another United youngster who Mourinho is keen on keeping. Pereira has been the star of the u21’s for quite some time now and United believe he has the potential to become one of the best players in the world some day. He was given his debut by Van Gaal in a 3-0 win over Ipswich in the League cup last season, and he capped it off with a marvellous free-kick.

Mourinho has told Pereira that he can go out on loan this season in order to get a taste of regular first team football, but he also assured the Brazilian that he has a future at the club and will have a role to play next season.

Reports claim that Manchester United have already made contact with Juventus and Real Madrid over potential moves for Raphael Varane and Leonardo Bonucci.

However, since Mourinho has already spent big this summer, he would have to raise funds for a new signing only by selling his current players.

Manchester United broke the world transfer record this summer after they re-signed their former midfielder, Paul Pogba, for a massive £89 million.
