De Gea
Proved once again why he's Manchester United's player of the season three years running. Bailed them out with some heroic goalkeeping on several occasions, making up for some dodgy defensive play.
1.
M. Rojo
An injury forced him off for the final 25 minutes, but it was a change Van Gaal would have been pondering anyhow as the Argentine proved a defensive liability, often being caught out of position and leaving far too much space available to Zaha.
5.
C. Smalling
Didn't appear up for it from the start. Lacked composure at the back, getting caught out more than a couple of times, before a string of rash challenges finally saw him sent off in extra-time.
12.
A. Valencia
Put in some outstanding work on the overlap, delivering in a number of inviting balls, one of which led to Lingard's winner. Did well to track back and honour his defensive duties as well, limiting the threat of Bolasie.
25.
M. Fellaini
Such an imposing figure, making his presence felt at both ends. A constant threat from set-pieces. He struck the woodwork with an excellent hit a 0-0, while teeing up Mata for the equaliser.
27.
Mata
He'll share the title of hero with Lingard for his equaliser late on, a deserved goal for the hard work he put in. He linked-up well with Valencia throughout and forced Hennessey into some smart saves, though inconsistency limited his impact a bit.
8.
D. Blind
Didn't always make for the most confident defending, but he was often left stranded as the last line of defence, a position he seemed to excel in. Put in some crucial last-ditch challenges, including one to deny Zaha in extra-time.
17.
M. Carrick
Wasn't his best showing, offering little ingenuity from midfield, but he was responsible in possession and won his first FA Cup in what was likely his last game with the club.
16.
W. Rooney
The architect in midfield for United, seeing plenty of the ball and facilitating their attacks. Made a remarkable run and cross in the build-up to Mata's goal to make it all possible. An exceptional defensive challenge snuffed out Zaha on a break in the first half.
10.
A. Martial
Rattled the post with a delightful header with the game still scoreless in the second half, and he was very direct in possession, though his final ball was lacking consistency. Seemed to fade a bit in extra-time, which is understandable given the amount of running he put in.
9.
M. Rashford
Always looked threatening with the ball at his feet, carving out some of the best chances for his side, until a knee injury sadly ended his evening early.
39.
M. Darmian
Looked much more assured defensively than Rojo, though he didn't offer as much on the overlap.
36.
J. Lingard
Saved his best for the end, producing an exceptional hit into the top corner to win Manchester United the FA Cup.
35.
A. Young
Was a lost man in attack, inexplicably being asked to play striker with Rashford injured. Moved into defence following Smalling's departure and didn't fare much better.
