LVG to find role for Paul Scholes and Phil Neville at club
‘Nicky Butt is already assisting us. We will find a role for Paul Scholes and Phil Neville. That is what we want.
‘We have to adapt to the qualities of these people and we'll have to speak to them personally and wait and see.'

LVG on his management style
‘I am democratic. I am empathetic to human beings and I have a strong personality.'

LVG on what would be a successful first season at United
‘I don't know. I have to see how the players pick up my philosophy. I haven't worked with most of them so we will have to see. See how they respond to the manager.
‘For me, the challenge is always first and not fourth. But that depends on the click between manager and players.'

LVG on how the Premier League could be the best league (now he is here)
‘I have never worked in the Premier League and that is a big challenge.
‘When I worked at Barcelona that was the best league. When I worked in Germany that was the best league. Now I work here maybe this is the best league.

LVG on having a perceived autocratic personality
'(My reputation) is unfair. The media wants to show that side (of my personality).
'From 39 I was head coach of Ajax and until now my personality has not changed. Autocratic and strong personality are not the same word, some people think it is.
'Sir Alex [Ferguson] also has a strong philosophy. He was always confirming that by winning a lot of titles. I hope I can start with that philosophy.'

LVG on looking forward to a glass of wine with Sir Alex Ferguson
‘He (Sir Alex) called me to congratulate me and we have spoken about a cup of coffee. We were always invited to UEFA and we always did a night out with a glass of wine. So I will have a glass of wine, the better wine, with him.'

‘I have met a lot of people already. This is a big family and they expect a lot of me. Can I fulfil that expectation? I think I can do. But because of the greatness of this club it is also much more difficult.
‘This club is also guided in a commercial way. We have to fulfil that also – that is not always possible.'

LVG on the importance of experience in his players
'I'm not always convinced of the experience of players. I have said a lot of times, a boy like Clarence Seedorf, he was 16, I let him make his debut.
‘Sometimes he was more experienced than a player of 30 – it depends on the personality.
‘You named Rooney but Michael Carrick, he was injured the day before. That is a big blow because he is an experienced player.
‘So we need experience, not only in age, but also as a human being. My philosophy is not only the football player but the total.'

New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal and his players have arrived in Los Angeles for their pre-season tour of the USA.
The 25-man squad landed in the United States on Saturday morning (2am BST) and Van Gaal, two days after being unveiled to the world's media as the new man at the Old Trafford helm, took his boys for a stroll on Santa Monica beach before heading to the Beverly Hills hotel where they will spend the next six nights.
Their first match of the tour will be on Thursday against Los Angeles Galaxy, the former team of ex-United midfielder David Beckham, before facing Ashley Cole's new club Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.
Should they make the final, they will play a fifth match in Miami on August 4. Van Gaal's Old Trafford debut will be a friendly against Valencia on August 12 and four days later, United will kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Swansea.

Louis Van Gaal and his Manchester United squad have arrived in Los Angeles ahead of their pre-season tour of the United States.

Spain midfielder Juan Mata wrote on social media: "Heading to #USA on our #mutour ! Looking forward to it."His club and international team-mate and goalkeeper David de Gea added: "Ready to go to EEUU!! #mutour starts now!!"
Van Gaal, fresh from his World Cup exploits with the Netherlands after steering them to the semi-final, insisted in his first press conference that every single one of United's first-team squad will get the chance to prove themselves before he decides whether to bring in new signings.
Will and Michael Keane, Jesse Lingard, Sam Johnstone, Tyler Blackett and Reece James all travelled to the United States, along with new signings Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera. Dutch striker Robin van Persie is being rested while Michael Carrick remained in the UK as he recovers from an ankle injury that will keep him out for around 12 weeks.

The squad returned for pre-season training on 4 July, with assistant Ryan Giggs taking charge, but with Van Gaal now in full control the players will be desperate to show the new boss they are commited to the cause and can help turn around the club's fortunes after last season's miserable efforts under David Moyes.Having failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 18 years last season, Van Gaal will be under pressure from his employers to impress immediately to appease the fans and sponsors with some critics suggesting the first-team is in need of a complete overhaul.
The 62-year-old former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach said before flying to the USA: "I know how the players play but I don't know how the players play once I have trained and coached them. The first three, four weeks I want to see what they can do and then maybe I will buy more players.
"I have to see how quick they can pick up my philosophy and then I can answer what our goal is – I haven't worked with most of them yet. It is very important there is a click between the players and the manager."
With rumours of Van Gaal being interested in recruiting new players in all positions gathering momentum, one man desperate to shine in the build-up to the new season is Brazilian defender Rafael.

Herrera: With fellow Spaniard Mata

He told the club's website: "Everyone's excited to see how he'll be both during games and away from it. It's clear from watching the boss in the World Cup that he likes to play with intelligent players."These types of players can change games and often shift from one formation to another. He seems very good at doing that. Some of his staff have been here from quite early on, so we have an idea of his methods, but we are all looking forward to finding out more from him."
Herrera, the 24-year-old midfielder signed from Atletico Bilbao, added: "The tour will be a new experience for me. It will be my first time outside Europe. All the people have told me there are a lot of United fans in America and I can't wait to play in front of them.
"I am very happy and really enjoying being at the club and in the city. The first couple of weeks here have been great.
"Training has been good, similar to at Bilbao in that we train a lot with the ball. The coaches want us to have the ball and keep possession, which is great for the players."

hata baada ya kushika nafasi ya saba....manchester united is manchester united!!!! class is permanent form is temporary....we have got class and our dip in form is temporary we will bounce back.....even adidas know that

Kumbe kweli kuna mashabiki wa damu aisee.

[h=1]Transfer news: Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward tells fans to expect signings[/h]

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has told the club's fans to expect new signings and several departures over the next few weeks.
New manager Louis van Gaal has already added England left-back Luke Shaw and Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera to last season's squad at a combined cost of about £56million, but the new United boss looks set to add more faces before the season begins.
The Dutchman has been linked with Arturo Vidal, Daley Blind, Kevin Strootman and Thomas Vermaelen since taking charge in May.
"There is no fixed budget. Financially we are extremely strong, we have funds available," Woodward told MUTV.

"Louis is the boss and is assessing what's going on but we have been in dialogue for some time about targets so there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes."

"Louis is the boss and is assessing what's going on but we have been in dialogue for some time about targets so there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes... we're continuing to move forward on some of those targets... so watch this space.
"The time he (Van Gaal) spends here as well (in America) he'll be able to assess more what he's got and continue to tweak the decisions if we need to.
"We want to do what it takes to win the title."
United finished seventh under former boss David Moyes last term, meaning they will be without European football this term for the first time in almost two decades.
Woodward does not believe that will put potential signings off a move to Old Trafford though.
He added: "I've experienced a lot of conversations with agents and players and we are still a huge attraction to top football stars around the world - there is no doubt about that.
"We've already invested in two new fantastic players."

Patrice Evra may follow Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic out of the door, despite only signing a new contract two months ago.
Brazilian midfielder Anderson, who was loaned to Fiorentina last season, and misfiring striker Bebe are free to leave.
The likes of Javier Hernandez, Wilfried Zaha, Marouane Fellaini, Anderson and Tom Cleverley all have question marks over their futures.
When asked whether players would leave, Woodward said: "Yes, I think so.
"The manager makes that decision and a few players have already gone and there may well be a few others that go.
"It's also worth commenting that we're not in Europe this year (so) there's less games, maybe the manager takes the view that he wants a tighter squad to bed in.
"If you do the analysis over last year, Liverpool performed extremely well with a smaller number of players but that's a decision for the manager."

"Patrice Evra has left #mufc to join Juventus. Everyone at the club would like to thank him for his many years of excellent service."

German tabloid BILD has given short shrift to the reports emanating from Spain that Manchester United might beat Barcelona to the signature of Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels. The newspaper comments:
If a Spanish sports newspaper reports first on the transfer of a Germany international to an English club, a certain scepticism is entirely appropriate.

Ed Woodward: Manchester United executive vice chairman is excited going into the new season

Sky Bet
[h=4]AS Roma v Manchester United[/h]

SSN's James Cooper reports from LA where Man United chief executive Ed Woodward has been speaking to the media ...
New Manchester United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is looking forward to the squad's tour of North America, as he insists the Old Trafford club remains the biggest in the world.
And while Woodward is not ruling out competing with the biggest spenders in the game, he is refusing to set any objectives for new manager Louis Van Gaal.
Woodward said: "We don't have a target this year. Let's be totally clear. We don't have a target.
"I am not sitting down giving targets to anybody. We want to strive to win. That is what we want to do. That expectation comes with the history of the club. You have to accept that. I have to accept that. Everyone has to accept that. Everyone has to have that benchmark for Manchester United. That is what all the fans want. That is what our history demands. We want to win.

"There is no budget, there is money. We are in a very strong financial position. We can make big signings. That doesn't mean we are going to throw money around. Louis is the manager. We have a lot of scouting output through the last 12 months that is flagging various things to us.

452220730_3173961.jpg

"The reality is that we're not afraid of spending significant amounts of money in the transfer market. Whether it's a record or not doesn't really resonate with us. What resonates is a top, top elite player that the manager wants that is going to be a star for Manchester United."
Ed Woodward

"Louis is the one who makes the ultimate decision around who he wants in his squad. I am not going to force feed him with a player he has not selected. The reality is that we're not afraid of spending significant amounts of money in the transfer market. Whether it's a record or not doesn't really resonate with us. What resonates is a top, top elite player that the manager wants that is going to be a star for Manchester United."
Woodward has been impressed by Van Gaal's impact since the Dutchman arrived at the club less than a week ago, and only a few days after the 62-year-old guided the Netherlands to a third place finish at the World Cup.
And Woodward concedes that finding a successor to David Moyes after a season that saw United slump to seventh in the Premier League and miss out on European football was one of the biggest decisions he's ever made.
"Yes, by some distance it is the most important job in the club. And we didn't take the decision lightly," Woodward said.
"We ran a process and we thought very carefully about the characteristics we were looking for in a manager. We were looking for a manager who would sync with the Manchester United philosophy.
"If you pause and take a step back, it is attacking football, it's giving youth a chance, and both of those things are core to Louis's philosophy of football – and a track record. If he brings so much energy to this we felt he was the right choice."
While United endured difficulties on the pitch the club's commercial momentum has not been affected, as Woodward points to a new sponsorship deal with US car giant Cheverolet and a world record £750m pound kit agreement with Adidas.

Woodward said: "What the deal shows and what we are seeing and everything we are doing from a commercial perspective, also from talking to agents and players about wanting to come to us, we are the biggest club in the world. There is no question in my mind about that.
"All I am saying is that there is a different expectation at this club. It is a different size in terms of interest level, fan base, a lot of what we tried to do. We also have a commercial arm that interacts with the football club in a way that doesn't disrupt the football club."
One factor that may have disrupted Manchester United in recent weeks is the departure of their Captain Nemanja Vidic, his centre-back partner Rio Ferdinand and full-back Patrice Evra. Their exits leave Louis Van Gaal short of defensive cover and relying on the likes of Johnnie Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling to deputise. Luke Shaw's arrival from Southampton will certainly help but Ed Woodward is expecting his new manager to use the US Tour as a fact-finding mission to decide who stays, who goes and who comes in.
"We are still assessing things and looking at options. We are not sitting on our hands and waiting for Louis. He is indicating clearly what he wants. All I am saying is there could be some other things that happen as a result of the time he spends with the players in the next few weeks. If you think about it, for an experienced professional like him from a football perspective, maybe he knows the first 15 players really well but the next 15 not so well. He is taking time to see."
