On the question of Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI), I personally know a lot more than I should say here. I know the INSIDE story. Anyone wants details, send me PM.
What I can say is the following:
a) What happened is a consequence of mismanagement of MOI by the current administration. Emphasis on the word 'current'. A lot of hanky-panky stuff is going on there, but neither the Ministry or the President's Office has the guts to do anything about it.
b) MOI was 'taken' from the Swiss founders of the Institute before the previously agreed-to date. As a result, there was no management mechanism in place when this unofficial handing over took place.
c) What happened is tantamount to 'criminal negligence', but we Tanzanians have a culture of silence. We always 'leave things to God' even when we know we should demand compensation. Do the families of the victims of this criminal negligence and medical malpractice have the will to pursue legal action against the doctors, who negligently operated their beloved ones?
I rest my case!
Thank you MwanaHaki
