Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce Kenneth Omeruo has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2018.
The 20-year-old defender, who is part of the Nigeria World Cup squad, said: 'I'm thrilled to sign a new contract with Chelsea and am really excited about the future.
'To play at such a fantastic club is a real honour for me and I'll be working incredibly hard to be successful. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in England so far and can't wait to get going.'
Omeruo operates mainly as a centre-back but is also comfortable on the right. He made one appearance for our Under-21s in November having recovered from a shoulder injury that kept him sidelined at the beginning of the campaign. He then spent the second half of the season on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship, where he made 14 appearances.
The Nigerian has already gained significant experience at international level, becoming an African champion last January before appearing in last summer's Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Branislav Ivanovic headed Serbia in front in their friendly against Panama in Chicago, but the Central Americans hit back to draw 1-1.
Both Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic played the whole 90 minutes in the United States, with our defender as usual captaining his country.
He lead by example, too, meeting an outswinging Dusan Tadic corner with a well-placed header that, with the aid of a slight deflection, ended up in the back of the net. 25 minutes had been played.
Panama equalised just after the hour with a header of their own and despite a couple of late opportunities, Serbia could not snatch victory.
Ivanovic played at centre-back - his usual position at international level - while Matic was deployed on the left side of a three-man midfield.
Serbia, who did not qualify for the World Cup, play one more summer friendly, against the tournament hosts Brazil in Sao Paulo. That game is on Friday.

David Luiz alimudu vizuri mechi ambazo Chelsea Fc ilikusudiwa kuvuruga mashambulizi ya wapinzani.
Mfano:

Mechi ya Chelsea fc vs Man Utd; pale London.
David Luiz alichezeshwa hapo kati ili avuruge mipango ya Man Utd. Ndo maana David Luiz alipokuwa akicheza pamoja na Frank Lampard timu ilikuwa inazidiwa sana kwenye kiungo. Kwa sababu wote si wazuri kupanga mpira; uimara wa Luiz ni kupiga mipira mirefu. Kazi hii alikuwa anaifanya vizuri sana Michael Ballack #13.

Nemanja Matic; ni bora kuliko David Luiz kwenye kiungo.
Sababu: Matic hiyo ndo sehemu yake asilia, 2. Matic anatoa pasi nzuri, 3. Matic mtulivu sana.
Mfano: Kwenye mechi ya Chelsea FC vs Man City; ambapo Chelsea ilishinda 1-0, Matic alimdhibiti vizuri sana Yaya Toure. Kiungo cha Man City hakikuleta balaa yoyote.🙂

Nina hamu huyo Matic auzwe pia...

If we compare Matic to his Chelsea team-mates we can see that he brings a lot to the table defensively. In fact, Matic is Chelsea’s top tackler per game and top interceptor per game. His defensive contribution is far greater than his team-mates here and he is clearly a very robust central midfield player who has added a lot of stability and a more natural midfield ball winner to the side. The tall, powerhouse Serbian midfielder also wins an average of 2.8 headers per game, meaning he can clean up when long balls are fired into Chelsea half.

In terms of going in the other direction we see that he has a decent pass completion and average pass rate, whilst not being fantastic. A feature of Matic’s play since joining Chelsea has been to win the ball off of the opposition and then initiate attacks for his side by either moving forward on the ball (completing nine successful dribbles in just seven starts for Chelsea), or by distributing it quickly. Matic did this very well in his break-through game for Chelsea in the 0-1 win against Manchester City. As we can see below he completed three dribbles, all of which helped initiate counter-attacks for his side:

In this fixture he was incredible for Chelsea winning three tackles, four headers and making 12 defensive actions to help Chelsea keep a clean sheet. His ability to move on the ball does show he can offer something going the other way and against City he launched a ferocious effort from range against the cross bar. Chelsea fans might want to see more of this going into the tail end of the season as then he would start to look like a complete midfield player. He has also only created three chances in his nine appearances which is not terrible for a holding player but could arguably be improved if he is allowed a bit more license to get forward.

Conclusion
Irrespective of his attacking contribution Matic has added something to this Chelsea side that was previously lacking. Prior to his arrival Chelsea looked unbalanced in central midfield and did not really have a natural player for the two man pivot. Matic though has the strength, pace and technique to be a really effective presence in the midfield and is probably Chelsea’s first choice in that position now. Whilst many might put their noses up at Chelsea re-signing their former player, it looks like it will be an incredible success.
