returning to pre-season trying to impress incoming boss Maurizio Sarri

Pre-season is getting under way for some of Chelsea's players this week

Ruben Loftus-Cheek criticised Chelsea for the way they treat their youth players, explaining that the club does not give enough opportunities to its academy players.

The midfielder is currently in Russia on England duty, but only thanks to an impressive season on loan at Crystal Palace.

"It's been so difficult to go from playing every game then get to the seniors and not be given a chance," Loftus-Cheek said on life at Stamford Bridge.

"It's really difficult mentally, there's only so long you just enjoy training with top players.

"From a year ago, I've improved so much from playing. A game situation is so, so, different.

"It's hard to compare the faith of Gareth Southgate and Roy Hodgson and lack of Antonio Conte faith because Chelsea is a big club and managers are under pressure and maybe don't want to take a chance on a young player.

"I don't understand what's going on behind the scenes fully."

Chelsea's longest-serving player, Matej Delac, left the club on Saturday after eight years at Stamford Bridge, not that he had a single competitive appearance to show for it.

The 25-year-old's contract ended on Saturday, bringing the curtain down on his 'Blues' career.

The Czech joined Chelsea from Inter Zapresic back in 2010, but his failure to secure a work permit led to a whole host of loan moves.

Vitesse, Vitoria de Guimaraes, Vojvodina, Sarajevo and Mouscron are among the termporary clubs that smatter Delac's CV and he is now set to add a new name to it, having agreed to join Danish side AC Horsens on a free.

Despite his lack of action, Delac seemed to appreaciate his time in the capital, writing on Instagram: "It has been an honour and a privilege to be part of Chelseafc family for 8 years. I wish to thank you all in the Club for making me a better man and a better goalkeeper.

"01.07.2018. I'm officially a new player of @ac_horsens, and hope to have a great time in Denmark."

Chelsea have turned down a bid in excess of £50m for Willian from Barcelona, according to Sky sources.
Talks remain ongoing between the two clubs and representatives of the player, who is currently on international duty with Brazil at the World Cup.

Sky sources understand Barcelona first began efforts to lure Willian to the Nou Camp as long as three months ago.

Sky Sports News reported in May that Manchester United are also interested in signing the versatile winger this summer, with the forward wanting to leave Stamford Bridge if Antonio Conte remained as head coach.

Willian made 55 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring 13 goals.

However, he was left out of the starting line-up for the 1-0 FA Cup final win over United at Wembley, coming on as an injury time substitute.

In total, Willian has scored 44 goals in 236 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Russian side Anzhi
