Seeing them for the first time, decked out in smart dark blue trousers or skirts, a white shirt and stripped tie, it is hard to believe their former lives on the streets.

The uniforms and beaming faces are a stark contrast to that of other street children gathered at the Eldoret Social Hall. Looking at their former colleagues, one cannot help but think: “There, but for the grace of God, …”
