Right! Zoning and decentralization is key to fast growing cities not a matter of every moving creature and traffic jalopies crammed in CBD and in like Dar's kariakor
we don't crowd in CBD like darislum then surrounded by shacks and some funny looking abodes.....infact Nairobi looks more developed as you move away from the CBD

That's even more damp! Why not decentralize markets and equitably develop different city zones instead of everybody crunching in Kariakor? FYI all the above Nairobi markets specialize in different commodities/services e.g
Gikomba/Toi- Fabrics,Shoes,Interior design accessories
Burma- Poulty,Beef,fresh produce
Maasai (alternate locations)- Crafts and cottage industry products
Kariakor-Crafts,household
Muthurwa- Hawkers merchandise
Nyayo-Cereals,fresh produce,household goods
Kenyatta-Beef,poultry,household
Marikiti-Fresh produce
Mutindwa- Furniture/interior design

Hiyo Kariakor yenu ndio takataka yakuuza taka zote!
Listen Man...

The issue is not that "why we didn't establish such Kariakoo's type in other sub areas!?"....

Just get know that Kariakoo is best in its own best.. No market to compete with in East and Central Africa....

When someone says " All under one roof" don't be surprised with Kariakoo when we say "All under several streets"....
You know what am saying....

But actually we made a mistake for some instance because it need someone to travel over some kilometers from outside the city to get a certain commodity Kariakoo which is, if we could establish such type in other areas then could reduce other blah blah...

But all in all many of l individual businessmans from Congo DRC, Burundi, Rwanda, Zambia they're all come to Kariakoo to get a service.... so don't take it easy buda...

Continue thriving in the past. We are all glad that the founding fathers did their best to set firm foundations although with varying degrees of success. It's our duty now to improve and perfect where they started on shaky grounds and not sleep on our laurels that Nyerere ndio baba! Nyerere and his contemporaries did their part and now over 50 years past that momentous era we should be busy setting new goals into the future having outlived some of the tenets they advocated for.
Don't be lazy by glowing in Nyerere's glory of past years, set new aspirations in tandem with global trends.
