So in Bongoslum people don't have access to mortgage financing? Alafu tukisema mukona informal economy munakasirika. 😂 😂 😂
We have mortgage financing but most of us don't take them. We prefer building our own houses in our own plots. It is unthinkable of me buying an apartment for USD 200k while with that money I can build two mansions each sitting on its own plot. Our lifestyles are different yours of servitude ours of liberty 😁

Mwenzako alishasema bongolalas can't afford mortgage na hakudanganya. 😂 😂 😂 Only 2% of bongolalas in urban areas can afford to get mortgage to purchase a decent house. 98% can't afford, ndio wanajenga vitu vya ajabu.

stop consoling yourself where did I say Tanzanian cannot afford mortgage? Acha kujitekenya kijana.

If the uptake is low it means majority can't afford it. It's simple common sense.
Tanzanians dream is to buid thwir own house and kick out paing RENTS.

Kenyams always dream of LIVING in RENTED/MORTGAGED APARTMENTS.

A Tanzanian is ready to build a small house like this to LIVE FREE rather than kuweka MAKENDE in a STUDIO APARTMENT paying rents.

You were raised up by Europeans you adopted their mentality unlike us we rose up by ourselves and we created our own culture when it comes to housing.
You are trying so hard to justify the informality in your economy. 😂 😂 😂 Hakuna kitu kama you created your own culture, the modern world moves in a common sequence which everyone adapts to, that's why we have civilizations. Nyinyi bado mko nyuma wacha excuses za kipumbavu.

But majority don't build houses like the one you have posted due to lack of funds. Majority in urban areas live in unfinished houses.

Mortgage financing in Kenya is expanding but faces low penetration, with a mortgage-to-GDP ratio of roughly 1.7%–1.86% as of 2024–2025, driven by high interest rates (averaging ~14%–15%) and affordability constraints for most citizens. While outstanding loans grew to over KES 281 billion by end-2023, market access remains limited, with only about 30,000 active mortgage accounts, primarily dominated by commercial banks.
