Usiwe mjinga, forex reserves are assets held in foreign currencies, gold, special drawing rights (SDRs), and IMF reserve positions. All countries have a bigger portfolio in foreign currencies than gold because of liquidity and an easy way of managing exchange rates. Gold is just used as an hedge and it's not so important.
