Whatever you think Tanzanian can do, Kenya can do it ten times bigger coz we got the capacity that’s better than yours. The point I was making is if export prices are better, why not let farmers cash in . We can figure out other rice sources. I support the President if he can sign that rice deal. Same way the US exports oil and yet imports oil too because exporting it in the world market is more profitable. Let’s take care of our farmers first.

While in Kenya the land is subdivided such that in the village, everyone has their own piece of land where they build their house and farm, In Tanzania the farmland is separate from the village where they build homes. Some of them count those villages as urban areas hence get the illusion that they are more urbanized.

Bongolala is a poor country by all measures, it doesn't have $2 billion lying around.

Trade between tz and burundi, even if 100% of it moved to the train overnight, doesn't even come close to justifying such an investment.

And the fact that the president delegated a $2b ceremony clearly tells me bongolala has zero intention of building this.
