I believe landscaping is yet to be completed at the new state house. The state house in Nairobi was originally the official residence of the governer of British East Africa. It takes features of European architecture, notably its pediment and Roman columns. But the Tanzanian state house is local — the original building is in Dar, a Swahili city. It also fits well in the area, and there’s a lot of trees and meadows.
