yes...I dont think we have to upgrade those trains in 5 years because we have already bought a lot of them....it will be a big waste...what we can do is to use them for like 20-30 years then upgrade once our economy is richer...If we want electric trains then we have the Nairobi light rail, soon to start construction...

Very good reasoning, remember amount of money required to electrify SGR and purchasing new electrical locomotives is more than what is required to build greenfield terminal at JKIA airport to increase its capacity to 20M passengers per year, the same as Oliver Tambo airport, if you are the president of Kenya and you have that money at your disposal, where will you spend that sum?

we dont need electric trains....what we need is to shorten the time that our goods take to reach Uganda from Mombasa and also reduce the cost of transportation...thats all..the diesel trains will also do that...besides we are building a light rail in Nairobi...it is electric..

yeah it was a bad decision to buy diesel trains but wameshanunua...there is no going back...lets use them for 30 years first before we even think of spending more billions buying electric trains...

This guys should know that diesel locomotives are best for cargo...and the main purpose of sgr was cargo not passengers....a super highway from nai to msa will be ideal for passengers
