ni aibu sana kwa watu wa DC kwenda kujifunza jambo fulani zuri kwa watu LDC....aibu aibu....nakumbuka miaka kadhaa iliyopita wakati tukiwa katika plan ya kujenga BRT,tulituma delegation south america katika nchi za brazil na Mexico.

. From tomorrow 1st September 2017, all passports to be issued will be ePassports.

. An e-passport is a passport which features microchip technology.

. The e-passport is highly secure, hence avoids passport reproduction and tampering.

. The ePassport enhances imposter detection.

. It facilitates faster clearance of travellers at immigration checks.

. The issuance of e-passports will allow Kenya to offer world-class consular services to its nationals.

. Essentially, the requirements for ePassport processing will remain the same as that for the current one.

. Although personal appearance is required for the taking of biometrics (i.e., fingerprints, photo, and signature).

. What if someone has long term visas on current passport?
Those visas will remain valid even after replacement.

. The holders of the current ordinary passports are required to change to the epassport in 2 years time.

. The e-passport can be Used internationally.

. The current ordinary East African passport will be phased out.

. The cost remains the same as the current passport costs.

. Processing period will be 15 working days.

. Requirements remain the same like the current passports.
