Here is the Unbelievable Total Number of Registered Vehicles in Kenya​

The number of vehicles and vehicle owners in Kenya has been increasing at an increasing rate. According to National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), by 2015, Nairobi alone registered approximately 7,000 thousand vehicles per month, a rate that could see Nairobi alone hub about 1.3 million registered vehicles by 2030. The number has however been increasing rapidly, thanks to the rising number of affordable motor vehicles

Kenya is currently on the fifth generation of number plates from KDA0001A which began late 2020. According to statistics from Kenya Bureau of Statistics, by the end of 2017, the total number of registered vehicles in Kenya was 2,989,788. The number increased to 3,280,934 in 2018, an increase of 291,146 which translates to about 10% increase per annum.

Going by this rate, the appropriate number of registered vehicles in Kenya was approximately 3.9 million by the end of 2020. Calculating the rate and considering 2021 is still in the fifth month, the rate of registration of vehicles per month will be approximately 30,000 vehicles. That means as at now, Kenya has approximately 4.1 million registered vehicles.

Going by this rate, the government will in future be forced to come up with new strategies to regulate registration and most importantly to control traffic in Kenya's major towns.

COVID-19 death toll rises in Z'bar
THE number of people who have died from COVID-19 in Zanzibar has increased to 15 with the number of patients also gone up to 390, a senior official has said.

Zanzibar's Health, Social Welfare, the Elderly, Gender and Children minister Nassor Ahmed Mazrui.

Addressing journalists here yesterday, Zanzibar's Health, Social Welfare, the Elderly, Gender and Children minister Nassor Ahmed Mazrui said the number was from June to August this year.

Minister Mazrui said out of the number 112 are Tanzanians while 278 were foreigners who belong to various countries.

“Out of the number 207 have recovered and are continuing with their duties and those who are continuing with their duties are 183 and out of the number 32 are Tanzanians and 151are foreigners,” he said.

He said from June 25 to August 10, while 29,326 have been tested for COVID-19 in various hospitals within Unguja and Pemba and out of the 390 were found positive.

Speaking on the vaccines, Mzrui said the ministry of health is continuing with various initiatives to control the spread of Covid-19 including vaccination to various groups of people including the elderly.

He said among other groups include security people working in border points drivers carrying tourists.

He said the vaccines are being offered at Mnazi Mmoja hospital in Zanzibar as well as other district and regional health centres.

The minister called upon Zanzibaris to turn up in large numbers to get vaccinated saying the vaccines are safe and have been confirmed safe by the World Health Organization (WHO).

He however said people should take precautions against the pandemic which he said will help to control the spread of COVID-9.

“We have to take precautions to protect ourselves from the pandemic, as advised by experts including social distancing, sanitizing and putting on masks,” he said.

THE African Union has allocated 17m Covid-19 vaccine doses to Tanzania as a part of a global programme to help member states get vaccines for national rollouts.

The delivery comes three weeks after the government received a consignment of 1.2m doses of Covid-19 vaccines from the United States as part of the COVAX arrangement.

Foreign Minister Ambassador Liberata Mulamula made this affirmation yesterday in Addis Ababa, at a meeting with Tanzanians living outside the country, who wanted to know steps being taken by the government in the fight against Covid-19, including an adequate vaccine rollout.

She urged Tanzanians working in various international organizations and institutions to support access to more doses of Covid-19 vaccines to enable more people to be vaccinated.

There was growing awareness of the need to be inoculated among the public starting from the launch of the rollout with President Samia Suluhu Hassan leading in getting the jab, she stated.

The minister held talks with Ethiopian president Sahle Work Zewde, assuring the Ethiopian Head of State that Tanzania will continue to implement cooperation accords that President Zewde agreed with the late Dr. John Magufuli during a visit last year including the issue of repatriating migrants held in various prisons back to Ethiopia.

For her part, the president stressed the need to continue strengthening existing cooperation between the two countries, especially in solving challenges that hinder development cooperation between the two countries.

Iringa. The chairman of Asas Group of Companies, El-Hadj Faraj Ahmed Abri has died.
His family announced on Friday that the businessman breathed his last at dawn on Friday while in Dar es Salaam.

A statement from his family said that Abri Ahmed's body will be laid to rest at Kisutu Cemetery in Dar es Salaam later today (Friday).

"There will be no any formal funeral gathering in Iringa," the statement reads in part, asking those willing to console the family to send their condolences via the available Information and Communication Technology (ICT) means.

Ahmed Abri is the father of a member of the National Executive Council for the ruling CCM, Mr Salim Abri Asas.

CCM's chairman for Iringa Municipality, Mr Said Rubeya, echoed the family's sentiments, asking mourners to send their condolences through ICT means.

The death of El-Hadj Abri brings the total number of prominent businesspeople who have died in Tanzania during the last five days to four.

They include: the owner of Sumry Bus Services, Hamoud Mohammed Sumry, owner of Shivacom Group of Companies, Tonil Somaiya and owner of Gold Crest Hotel, Mathias Manga.
