Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross insists there was "absolutely no malice" in the challenge on Aaron Ramsey which led to the Arsenal player suffering a badly broken leg during the Premier League clash at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.
"There was absolutely no malice in the challenge. I would never, ever go out to hurt a fellow professional."
He added: "I am deeply upset that Aaron has suffered such a bad injury and my thoughts are with him. I would like to send him my best wishes too for a speedy recovery."
The 22-year-old's sentiments were echoed by his club, who added in the statement: "Stoke City would like to send their best wishes to Aaron Ramsey and Arsenal Football Club."
They added: "The club do, however, wish to make it quite clear that there was absolutely no malice in the challenge from Ryan Shawcross which caused the injury."
Potters manager Tony Pulis added: "On behalf of everyone at Stoke City, we would like to express our deepest sympathy to Aaron and Arsenal at what has happened today.
"Our thoughts are with him and his family. We hope he makes a speedy recovery and everyone here wishes to see him back on the football field as soon as possible."
Pulis also defended Shawcross, adding: "Ryan Shawcross has no bad blood in him whatsoever. There is no way in a million years he would ever go out and try and hurt someone.
"The lad was heartbroken at what has happened, you could see as he came off the pitch that he was in tears and he feels devastated that Aaron has been so badly injured."

Tackling in English football is out of control and must be addressed by the authorities before more damage is done to the game.
That's the view of Patrick Barclay of The Times , who was reacting after seeing Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey taken to hospital with a badly broken leg after a red-carded tackle from Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross.
The injury was reminiscent of the bad injuries suffered by Ramsey's team-mates Eduardo and Abou Diaby in previous seasons, and while Barclay does not believe there was any malice on Shawcross's part, he feels there are too many wild challenges which would not be tolerated abroad.
"What we saw yesterday for me was completely unacceptable in the same way as it was unacceptable when Martin Taylor inadvertently, accidentally broke Eduardo's leg," he told Sunday Supplement.
"There's a wildness and a physicality about the English game which I don't think is healthy."
"During the match yesterday one of the best chances fell to Eduardo," he added. " A challenge came in from the side, a fairly lose desperate one, and Eduardo didn't put his foot through the ball, and that's because he broke his leg before.
"Now that is why this is unacceptable, because it is anti-football. And Eduardo's career will probably never be the same again." Furious
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was furious in the aftermath of the match and suggested that too many teams were over-physical against his side.
Neil Custis of The Sun agreed with Wenger's comments and believes most sides adopt physical tactics against the Gunners because they simply cannot cope with their technical brand of football.
"I have a lot of sympathy for Wenger and I think he is absolutely spot on," he said. "I think teams do go to be over-physical against Arsenal, outside of the laws.
"Their football is quick and fantastic and so wonderful to watch and when they're on form they're probably the most entertaining team around and teams go out to stop them.
"They go out to wind them up, they go out to... I wouldn't say injure them, but they certainly go out to foul and to shake Arsenal up.
"Because Arsene Wenger is not a friend of all the managers - he's not the one who has a drink with them afterwards, he's doesn't do things with the LMA and stuff like that - I think he is an easy target for a lot of managers to have a go at him as well as paint this picture that 'Wenger's just whinging' or 'Wenger's just whining'".
"You can also point to Arsenal's disciplinary action, which isn't the greatest, but I think often that is more of a reaction to referees not defending them.
"Some teams simply cannot beat Arsenal at football so they go about it in a different way and it's down to referees to stop them from things like yesterday."
ni bahati mbaya lakini nadhani its about time teams to start playing football against us badala ya kufocus kwenye physical game more na matokeo yake ndio kama hivi.
Tutapambana nao tu.
BTW Sky sports hawakuweka kabisa picha za mechi za jana kisa timu wanayoipenda Chelsick walikung'utwa.

Siku zote nimekuwa against wale wote wanaoshadadadia injury za wachezaji wa timu pinzani coz at the end of the day wale pia ni binadam kama ww na mm.
Nature ya mpira wa Uingereza ni tofauti na mpira wa Arsenal (wanacheza mpira wa Kihispania zaidi), hence faulo against Arsenal team is less or more obvious. Asa feelings ka mwawindwa au lah that cant work apa, kipindi mnaenda unbeaten hadi ligi inaisha sijui (of coz JF haikuwepo) mlikuwa mnasema nini!

Just imagine timu inaenda unbeaten 5 season, sbb?, injury za timu pinzani. How does that sound to you?

Bellamy and Tevez: Brace apiece Man of the match - Craig Bellamy and Carlos Tevez both scored two goals for Man City but the Welshman gets the nod for his terrific opener which put his side 2-1 up and on the way to victory.
Moment of the match - Juliano Belletti's clumsy challenge on Gareth Barry inside the box saw him sent off before Tevez slotted home the penalty to put Man City 3-1 up.
Goal of the match - Bellamy's first goal capped off a superb counter-attack by Man City as he used his searing pace to burst clear of Mikel before firing a slow shot past Hilario into the far corner of the net.
Attempt of the match - John Terry's attempt to shake the hand of Wayne Bridge.
Save of the match - Although Man City were 3-1 up at the time, Given's fine one-handed stop from Nicolas Anelka late on just summed up Chelsea's day and helped ensure there would be no comeback.
Talking point - The 'no handshake' between Wayne Bridge and John Terry will no doubt take some of the headlines but in terms of the title race this rare home defeat for Chelsea could knock them off track. Related links
Carlos Tevez and Craig Bellamy both bagged a brace as Manchester City stunned nine-man Chelsea with their first victory at Stamford Bridge in 17 years and their first league double against the Blues since 1957.
The Argentina international and the Wales striker took the headlines away from the John Terry-Wayne Bridge sideshow as Carlo Ancelotti suffered his first home defeat since taking charge of the West London club in the summer.
Frank Lampard had given Chelsea a deserved lead in the 42nd minute but Tevez, back in action after returning to Argentina following the premature birth of his daughter, levelled against the run of play prior to the interval before the Premier League leaders were humbled in the second period.
Back-up goalkeeper Hilario, at fault for Tevez's leveller, was again not at his best for Bellamy's strike which gave Roberto Mancini's men the advantage before further goals from the strike duo put the result beyond doubt.
Substitute Juliano Belletti and Michael Ballack were both dismissed to cap a miserable afternoon for the hosts, who claimed a consolation from Lampard in the closing moments.
Terry extended his hand to his former team-mate during the pre-match formalities, but a stern-faced Bridge snubbed his rival without a glance before shaking hands with the rest of the Blues squad.
Bridge was predictably jeered by the home supporters every time he touched the ball, with England coach Fabio Capello, who still hopes the left-back will end his self-imposed international exile, looking on from the stands.
After a quiet opening spell, Florent Malouda had Shay Given scrambling across his goal after unleashing a vicious long-range effort which only narrowly cleared the City keeper's crossbar. Nasty clash
Joe Cole then warmed Given's palms as he received the ball out wide on the left flank, before cutting back into the box and firing in a shot which the Republic of Ireland international pushed away.
Didier Drogba had the chance to test Given in the 25th minute after he got away from Micah Richards in the area, but his header from Branislav Ivanovic's measured cross cleared the crossbar.
Pablo Zabaleta, Drogba and Richards were involved in a nasty clash of heads in the 31st minute, with the Argentina international coming off worst and looking very groggy and dazed as he left the field, but he was able to continue after a further spell of treatment.
Ivory Coast international Drogba then fired over from just outside the six-yard box as he seized onto Lampard's scuffed shot from the edge of the area, with City being kept very much on the back foot by the hosts, before Nicolas Anelka's powerful goal-bound shot struck Lampard in the box.
And the seemingly inevitable breakthrough came in the 42nd minute when Cole threaded a superb ball through the City defence to meet Lampard's diagonal run, with the England international firing across Given and into the bottom corner with a first-time shot.
But City stunned the hosts on the stroke of half-time as Tevez latched onto a long clearance out of defence by Bridge which John Obi Mikel failed to deal with, held off Terry and turned Ricardo Carvalho inside out before scuffing a low shot which somehow trundled beyond Hilario's despairing dive and into the net.
Mancini's men could even have gone in ahead at the break as Joleon Lescott fluffed his lines after being presented with a close range free header at the far post following Bellamy's curling free-kick.
Bridge had a chance to make the headlines for the right reasons early in the second half after Terry brought down Adam Johnson but his free-kick from the right corner of the area went straight into the wall.
Outstanding
City forged ahead in the 51st minute with an outstanding goal from Bellamy with the Wales international bursting clear onto Gareth Barry's excellent pass, taking the ball outside Mikel and firing a crisp low shot across Hilario, with the back-up goalkeeper again beaten too easily.
Given was called into action again and showed superb reflexes to tip over Anelka's close-range effort but Mike Dean had already halted play for a handball from Michael Ballack, with the referee in action again soon after to calm down a flashpoint between Terry and Tevez.
Bellamy looked to be in on goal again in the 66th minute from Tevez's clever diagonal ball, but Ivanovic got back well to make an essential challenge, before Anelka cut into the City box and blasted straight at Given. Seconds late the goalkeeper narrowed the angle well to deny Drogba at the far post.
Substitute Belletti then blundered as he gifted the ball to Barry before felling the midfielder in the box, leaving Dean with no option but to point to the spot and issue a red card. Tevez stepped up and made no mistake with a powerful penalty.
Man of the moment Bridge was substituted soon after, before the shell-shocked hosts were reduced to nine men in the 81st minute with Ballack receiving a second yellow card for a crunching tackle from behind on Tevez.
Despite their significant numerical disadvantage, Chelsea continued to attack and Given had to be alert to deny Anelka from close range and then keep out a powerful Drogba free-kick.
But as the hosts pressed, City hit them on the break with Shaun Wright-Phillips breaking away and drawing Hilario before rolling the ball unselfishly across to the back post for Bellamy to tap home and spark a mass exodus from the stands.
Barry felled Anelka with a clumsy challenge as full-time approached, allowing Lampard to make it 4-2 from the penalty spot.

WACHA1 please fafanua hio red, maanake napenda man utd lakini naangalia almost mechi zote za arsenal kwenye tv zikionyeshwa, una uhakika mwaka jana match of the day hawakuonyesha mechi ya arsenal??au nimekuelewa vibaya?
