that he will be back next season

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has never doubted he will remain at the Emirates Stadium helm beyond the summer. Wenger moved to reassure supporters he will sign a new contract, as pledged, once the season is complete, after leading his team on a lap of honour following their 1-0 Barclays Premier League victory over West Brom in their final home match. The Frenchman also ruled out a move for Loic Remy, despite the QPR striker attending Arsenal's routine triumph - secured by Olivier Giroud's first-half header.

"Don't worry, don't be too impatient, my last time will come, you'll get rid of me one day, don't worry!" Wenger said, reiterating his intention to sign a new contract. "I've said many times my word is my word. I'm from a period where you didn't need a pen to commit.

"It's not linked to the FA Cup final. It was important, of course, to be in the Champions League - that's for sure. "No. I've had no moments of doubt. If I had moments of doubt it would have been a few years ago when I had to say no to many offers and commit to this club and I was under a lot of pressure." Wenger said he did not invite Newcastle loan forward Remy to the Emirates Stadium, joking he hoped the France hitman had paid for his ticket.


The Gunners chief also admitted he will fight to keep out-of-contract stars Bacary Sagna and Lukasz Fabianski at the club next term. "Honestly, I've just been informed that Loic Remy was here - I didn't know," Wenger said. "I don't see any sign of us signing Loic Remy. I hope he's paid for his ticket! I have not invited him." Confirming loan midfielder Kim Kallstrom will return to parent club Spartak Moscow in the summer, Wenger said he will do everything in his power to retain coveted duo Sagna and Fabianski. Wenger will aim to use supporter acclaim surrounding full-back Sagna to try to keep him in north London. "I want Sagna to stay and I hope the reception from the fans convinces him that we love him here," Wenger said. "We have two players at the end of their contracts - Sagna and Fabianski. If it's down to me, they both stay." After slipping up 3-0 to Aston Villa on the season's opening day, Arsenal completed the rest of their home fixture run without further defeat. Wenger admitted Arsenal's failure to sustain a title challenge revolved around a goal shortage, but refused to lament not recruiting an extra striker. "I would just say, to be brutal in our first analysis, we missed a few goals, compared to the teams who scored the most goals, and we missed some big away games by conceding too many," Wenger said.
